Thank you so much for posting this! I called Sony when my camera malfunctioned and they wanted $185.00 dollars to fix it. This was just before my trip last year so I ran out and bought a new one for about the same amount of money but I so miss my Sony! I'm going to go and charge it up to see if its the same problem! I hope so! I was so upset at the time that my $400.00 camera lasted less than 2 years.

This happened to my camcorder. I luckily had it under warranty and did not have to pay anything to have it fixed. This happened back in May. Now I know why they were so cooperative about fixing it.

WoW! You had me freaked out! We use Sony cameras - we have 2 digital cameras and 2 video cameras. Luckily, none of them were listed in the settlement! We've never had a problem with any of our cameras. (Knock on wood!) I'm glad Sony is fixing the problem CCD's.

My problem seems to be different but maybe its related....When I turn the camera on it stays in the set up screen or flickers back and forth from the set up screen and a blue screen that said memory stick acess. Do you think its a related problem? Or something totally different?

If you go to the sony website, the have a live chat in the service area and that is where I went yesterday. This problem gives you an image like looking through the bottom of an old glass Coke bottle. You can generally make out what you are looking at, but really distorted. But you can view older pics still on your memory card through the camera just fine. I have one of each (camera / camcorder). I never had any problem until I turned it on yesterday. My HDR HC3 is not listed.

Thanks My still is not on ther but mt 120BT camcorder is .. I have had no problems but don't use it that much either . I think I might have to take it on the next few trips and put it through it's paces.

Thanks for the info, as my old sony digital is on there, but thankfully, i have not had any of these problems, and it is 4yrs old.. Whew. And, my new sony i just got, is not on that list.

Mine was three years old and I had never had a moments trouble. I just turned it on yesterday and mine was screwy. It is supposed to be a problem with humidity I believe that causes the problem to manifest itself. I saw a post on another board where a guy had left his in his automobile over night and the temps got below freezing. When he fired up the camera BINGO.

I just received my camera back this week. It took about 10 days once they received it. No problems and no charges. Just in time for our trip to WDW in 14 days

Thats great! Silly me never printed the shipping label they sent me and it expired. I just requested a new one.
