Was talking to our DD's yesterday (the 2 in 7th grade) & found out that 2 girls in 8th grade are pregnant - from the same boy.

I know it's not a rumor because there was an assembly - I'll call it the sex talk assembly. I know for a fact it was mentioned at the 7th, 9th & 10th grade assemblies.

My friend e-mailed me about it yesterday & we talked about it with the girls last night. It was a good discussion for us, but DH & I were almost at a loss for words. These 2 girls are just babies themselves. I am actually very sad for these kids. Supposedly they are giving the babies up for adoption.

8th grade - I just keep shaking my head. :sad2:

Hiya,

Being British I'm not sure how old 8th graders are... around 14 is it? In any case it sounds like they are young and not a good situation at all :(

Glad it gave you a good chance to talk with your DDs tho!

Best Wishes,
Gaspodé

I was 13 in the 8th grade!

i can safely say...that by 8th grade...I think french kissing was as far as I went.

holy guacamole...pregnant by the same boy?

i'm actually speechless...I can't imagine having to deal with that at that age...

OMG, that is just awful! I feel so sorry for those girls--no matter what route they choose, their lives have been altered forever. What a tough thing to have to go through. And the boy--yikes! I don't even know what to say (except have a shotgun ready if he THINKS he's going to date your DD!). It would almost be worth seeing him have to deal with the mess he's made--I'm betting that he'll just skate away free, though.

OT, but pw2pp, I just LOVE the picture in your sig. Did they make that sign just for you? If my mother knew how I spent my time, she would have one made up just for me!

I think someone needs to have a "talk" with that boy!!!!

Oh my...as the Mom of 3 girls (2 right around that age) I can't even imagine my girls going through that. I hope the boys parents have a good long talk with him and keep him on a short leash for along time! I am so glad that my girls aren't into the dating scene all that much...they have friends but no serious steady boy friend...and my 12 year old isn't allowed to "date" for a while yet.

There was a girl I went to shool with who had a baby at 14. I keep thinking how now her kid must be almost 22. WOW! I can't imagine myself with a 22 year old right now.

:teeth: :teeth:
No.... my son found this website called churchsigngenerator.com where you can have ANY message that you want put on a picture of a church sign.
Thank you :)

Very, very sad indeed.

I hope they didn't single these kids out by naming them, they have enough odds stacked against them right now.

Unfortuntately at the junior high I went to, pregnant 13 and 14 year olds were nothing shocking. I just felt sad for them. Most of those girls had more babies throughout high school.

The small town we used to live in had a problem with teenage pregnancy. My friend was one of the OB's and said that one particular culture seemed to celebrate a "young" mother. :confused3 I feel sorry for both kids...the one having one too young, and the one with a mother that's too young.

My mom's best friend is a Jr High teacher and it's also pretty common at her school. There get a few every year.

It's just sad really. The think is at my mom's friends school it's always the popular girls and the classmates tend to fawn over the mom's to be.

Most of these girls keep their babies.

There is a sixth grader at my DD's middle school that is pregnant. A girl in her seventh grade class has already had a baby.

Maybe it's because I work as a school nurse, but the fact that two 8th grade girls in the same school are pregnant, while incredibly sad, does not shock me in the least in this day and age. The only thing that is a tad surprising is that the father of both babies is the same guy :sad2:. And as BuzznBelle's mom said, the boy will have minimal consequences from this . But I am glad the girls are giving the babies up for adoption.

This is why parents need to start talking about sex with their kids when they are VERY young - before the hormones kick in. I was just reading a thread last night about an IM sent to a 12 year old girl that the mother just happened to intercept. I know every generation says it, but these days, with the communication technology and "entertainment" we have, are not the same as when we were kids even just 10-20 years ago. You parents out there have a tough job.
