Found another discount hotel site online tonight - www.sunshine.co.uk found them thru a link via another site via another site!! Rooms are coming in about £2 cheaper than alpharooms which is about £20-60 cheaper than travel republic!

Just thought I would let you all know.

Just had a look and compared our reservation with Alpharooms, 8 nights fairfield Inn Oct half term. Same price but Alpharooms give 7% cashback via Quidco so Alpharooms wins on that booking, will keep in faves for future, thanks for the link.

How does this Quidco that you mention work? Had a quick look but couldn't figure it out (Im thick I know!)

I use Rpoints.com but Quidco is easier to understand for a new user.
You register with their site then anything you want to buy on the internet you goto that site via the link on Quidco, so for Alpha you would go here http://www.quidco.com/alpharooms/ when you are logged in you then follow the link any rooms you reserve thru that link are tracked and gives you 7% cashback, takes a few weeks before you can get it, with rpoints I take mine out everytime I get to £100, as they give me £1 bonus at £100. I have had almost £1,200 back in 3 years.
Doesn't matter what you buy on the net you usually get cashback, Vodafone give £130 on a contact phone http://www.quidco.com/vodafone/
Insure and go holiday insurance 16.5% http://www.quidco.com/insure-and-go/
Virgin holidays 3% http://www.quidco.com/virgin-holidays/
It really is money for nothing.

Thanks Wayne - will get DH to have a look into them - not heard of anything like that at all - funny, he was just saying the other week about maybe switching his c/card to one that gives cashback or points or something so this is an alternative!!

Thanks again

You can get cashback on getting a new credit card also, not many offer it but a few do, egg pay £20. http://www.quidco.com/finance/credit-cards/
I use Nationwide CC for abroad as they don't charge any fees, you get full rate (about $2/$1 just now) unlike most cards that charge about 3%. For UK I have Virgin Amex to earn the airlimes.

Yeah, he was looking at one with Airmiles but since we don't go abroad that often it didn't work out or something (usually to Florida every 2yrs!) but will let him know.

My mum uses her Nationwide account which works well - and since they are coming with us I can use her card and then she can pay (hee-hee!!)
