Just wanted to share a cool bag I picked up this afternoon at Target for $25.

It's called the Vertical Boarding Bag by SwissGear and was exactly what I was looking for. It's compact (about the dimensions of an iPad and between 3" to 6" thick when full). Best of all it fits my Nikon D50 DSLR camera with an 18-200 zoom lens with plenty of room to spare. It's comfortable worn as a messenger bag but also works quite well worn on one shoulder like a purse.

My husband said it's definitely manly enough that he would also wear.

It has 2 main zippered compartments, one that is pretty open the other has tons of small pockets for credit cards, a clip for keys, mesh pouch, etc. Plus a few outside pockets that would hold park passes and other items you need to reach quickly and frequently. The material seems like it would be water resistant and keep things dry when splashed on a ride but I haven't tested yet.

The strap is adjustable and would probably work as a small stroller bag as well.

I took a few pics to show how it fits and also the inside pockets.

In the first pic my Nikon D50 is in the bag as well as a few toys my daughter stuffed in the outside pocket while I was trying to snap the picture :)

My local Target had it in the luggage section. They also have a sling style backpack but this was more comfortable for me.

cool - wish I had one before we left in June 2012 :goodvibes

I just bought the SAME bag for our September trip! I saw it recommended on another thread. I tested it out at the zoo last week. I fit in a water bottle, 4 cereal bars, 4 baggies of snack mix, 3 pairs of sunglasses, and all my cards. (debit, DL, etc) I still had room to put more in!

It worked great. My hubby said the same thing - that it was manly enough for him to wear.

We've been doing a big backpack, but now that DD is way past potty training, there's no need for all that "stuff", so we are going to go light this year.

Thank you for sharing. I have been looking online for something like this but it was hard to see if it was what I wanted because pics didn't really show much. You have me sold on it now!

I do believe I am going to have to stop by Target and find one of these!

Very cool!! I'm really excited to try it out. Headed to the zoo in a few weeks and will definitely take it along as a trial run. Sounds like you were able to fit quite a bit in it. Did you wear it messenger bag style or purse style?

DD is still in diapers (will be 18 mos during trip) but I plan to bring a small stuff sack with diapers, wipes, blanket for changing and change of clothes and just toss it in the bottom of the stroller. I'll toss a small cooler in as well for her bottle of milk.

Hope everyone looking is able to find at their local Target. It may be something Meijer carries as well (if they're in your area).

I wore it messenger style. I tried it purse style a few times and it kept slipping off. But that's okay, since my DH will wear it messenger style and he usually ends up stuck with it. (don't know HOW that happens! :rotfl:)

As for the diapers and wipes and stuff, I suggest a 2 gallon ziploc. You can put all that in there, shove it in the bottom of the stroller and forget about it. They won't open it for bag check - you can just hold it up.

Thanks so much for posting this! I need a bag for our upcoming trip to Universal and wasn't sure where to look. It will be our first trip without a stroller and diaper bag, so I was a little lost trying to figure out what to get. I searched the disboards and found your post. I will be going to my Target this afternoon to get one!
