Hi all,

Right now, I have a Thanksgiving trip booked for my family (as of a month ago) with a split stay - 6 nights in a Fort Wilderness Cabin and 3 nights in a cottage at Vero Beach. We're second guessing ourselves as we're not sure we want to leave the Disney bubble we've come to know and love.:goodvibes I just called MS and the only availability (since it's a busy time and we have reservation points to use up) are at The Contemporary, The Yacht Club and POR. I was really hoping for the Poly, as we have not yet stayed there and I so wanted to try it. (Anyone had luck getting it on Res. points this close...for Thanksgiving?)

Anyway, I was hoping to get some input from other DVCers on whether you think we should keep what we have and venture out and try Vero Beach, or switch to an onsite resort the whole time. From what I hear, the cottages are amazing...but will we be bored there in early December for 3 whole days? I have 3 little boys who are 14, 9 and 8.

What do you think?

We would be thrilled to have the vacation you're describing. I would not change.

What was your reasoning when you booked? Does someone really like the beach...and a little more relaxing vacation. That's what you'll get at Vero. There are sights to see in the area if you want to do some sightseeing, but the beach and pool and activities at the resort were enough to keep my family happy.

Best wishes as you decide!

Thanks, Bobbi...

Yes, we all love the beach (most especially me - I grew up in So. CA). Our reasoning at the time - was OMG A BEACH COTTAGE IS AVAILABLE AT 4 MOS. OUT? WE CAN'T PASS THAT UP!!! but then I discovered that if we leave on Nov. 30th, like we planned, we are going to miss MVMCP. I also am not sure I want to leave Disney property, or that we will be happy at Fort Wilderness. I don't know...that's why I was hoping everyone here would chime in with thoughts on both. We've never been to Vero Beach or stayed at Fort Wilderness.

Well, we've spent a few vacations at the FW cabins, and loved them. This was in the '80s, before DVC. I loved everything about the cabins, being in the woods, going to the campfire program, walking around hearing the birds, seeing the little armidillos walking around. It was the first time we had a different bedroom than the boys, wonderful. So there was no doubt that we would go with what you have. ... Until I read about the MVMCP...well, that's fun and if you have not gone to it, and don't normally go to WDW at Christmas, then, I would reconsider. What I would try to do is stay an extra day at FW, but I WOULD NOT give up the Beach Cottage totally, I would go with the 2 nights. It is not to be missed.
