Since it is now September, I thought I ought to bump this thread up to the top, so all of the September campers have a chance to see it.

Hey you are 100% correct about the date for the TRAIN to arrive Sept 29th thru Oct. 04th and I am getting him in 401 so everyone can enjoy and see him as they pass his site. Bob Kelso and his daughter Susan will be there so your source is absolutely correct.......Hope everyone enjoys the train and it will be my first time to meet Bob and see the train. I can't wait.

Here's a little more info on the car that will be at the Fort.
The gentleman who did such a nice job restoring this Fort treasure is Bob Kelso. He purchased the car from the Brevard Zoo.
Most of the cars and all 4 of the locomotives found homes after being rescued in 2000 from the scrap heap. A couple of people got involved with saving these items. According to the book "Fort Wilderness Railroad" by David Leaphart, Marty Sklar and Jane Alcorn are the people who were instrumental in saving most of the trains. In turn the folks at the Carolwood Pacific Historical Society (which is a group of people determined to preserve Walt Disney's love of railroads) got involved and ended up getting all 4 locomotives and many of the cars. The rest of the cars went to a Florida Pre school,Brevard Zoo and one ended up in Missouri.
It looks as if the one at Typhoon Lagoon has been treated the worst.
Restoring the locomotives and cars has got to be a chore since they sat outside in the Florida heat and rain for years. Talk about a labor of love. It will take years and much $$$$ to get them close to their orginal glory, but at least they are in the hands of people that will love and care for them.
And thanks to Bob Kelso, many folks will get to seem one of the cars back at the Fort. Thanks Bob!!!!!!:yay::thumbsup2

Oops, sorry all, NOW I see Bob's name.............But, I'm glad to write it down again cause it's awesome that he is sharing his treasure with so many.

I am posting to bump this thread up to the top, as Bob and his railroad car arrive at the Fort next week. If you haven't already made plans, this is your chance to see this great display!

It is there. We saw it last night. What an awesome piece of FW history! It is across from the Meadow Trading Post in site 1001. :thumbsup2

AaaaaaaaaaaaL ABOARD,
That brings back some great memories,,, thanks for pics everyone.
Wish it could still be there when we arrive for Christmas...

Made it over today, and it was real easy to find Bob. Really nice guy. I have several pics Ill post later as I am getting ready for a wedding. If anyone else heads over, hes 1001 right out side the 1000 loop bus stop. You can see it from the road as the bus comes from Settlement. Talked with him for about 30 minutes, and he has some other memorialbila to go with the car.

I have to say he did a good job with the car, and its too bad Disney wont work with him to display it in the Fort. (He asked. They said no) The car looks really sharp, and like it should be on a rail or in am museum.

Ill get the pics up as soon as I can.

Heres the pics I took this afternoon of Bobs Fort Car.

You mean Bob, the owner of the car? I know he mentioned it to me while we were talking about Disney and the car. As I was leaving someone walked up and mentioned something about a meeting, but Im not sure if it was the same meeting.
