Is the Chip & Dale Campfire/Movie worth the time? My DS2.5 loves the newer Disney movies...is that something that he would enjoy during one of those nights when we have some downtime? We are staying at All-Star Movies.

Absolutely, it is worth the time. Most kids these days do not have the opportunity to see a movie shown outside on a big screen, the way us older folks used to see them at drive-in movies. Plus, the sing-a-long is great, corny, fun too.

If I may I would like to ask another movie question....I searched but to no avail....:confused3 (maybe didn't search correctly or it could be a blonde thing)
Is it okay to bring chairs for the movie rather than sit on the benches provided? Is there space for your own chairs?

We want to follow proper FW campfire/movie protocol!

Yes, certainly. Either folding chairs or stadium seats are a good idea... even a necessity for us older folks. It's a great time!

:santa:

To the Original Poster (OP): check the sticky note at the top of our Camping Forum for a list of the movies which is usually updated at the start of each month. If your son likes the newer movies you can time your visit to please him by picking a more recent movie (as opposed to my all-time favorite "Apple Dumpling Gang" followed by the orignial "Herbie the Love Bug").

I set up folding chairs along the center aisle which is paved but it can only go 1-2 chairs wide because any more will block the aisle which leads back to the Chuck Wagon (snacks) and the bathroom. The wood log benches they have are very hard and uncomfortable for a 2-hr movie. You can also bring a blanket and spread it out on the gravel up front in front of the benches. popcorn::

Enjoy!

Don't forget the marshmallows and long sticks. My husband and I went last year in Nov. for the first time (we don't have kids) and had a great time. We are staying longer in May and hope they have some good movies. It brings back memories of drive in movies.

Just wanted to say - LOVE your screen name! paw:

Ed, I love ADG and Snowball Express. We went to the campfire one night when they were showing SE and thought we'd pass and leave. After watching for a few minutes we were enjoying it. Bought it that Christmas off Amazon and now it's become a tradition to watch during Christmas break.

Watching the ADG after a rousing singalong with Ms Sundee is one of the greatest things that I have ever experienced,

Yes, those were the days. I couldn't tell you who does the sing a long now unless it's Julie.

Is Sundee still strumming her guitar? Wow... 4 (or maybe it's 5 now) years ago, she gave me and my guys a ride back to our tent during the movie. My youngest had fallen asleep and she saw me holding him with the other two holding on to my shorts' pockets. She told me that if I would wait until she got the movie rolling, she'd give us a ride to our site so we wouldn't have to wait for the bus.

Bless her heart!

It's awesome to see that she's stillat the Fort.

Is there enough time at the campfire to roast hot dogs for dinner and then roast marshmallows to make dessert (smores)?

Yes, the campfires are lit well before the singalong and are roaring throughout the movie. Plenty of time. Enjoy!

Allears.net has pricing, but doesn't show how many you can make with a kit.

S'mores Kit (includes 2 sticks) - $9.50

Marshmallow Roasting Stick $0.75

Marshmallow Bag $4.25

Can we invite someone local (lives in Orlando - not staying at the resort with us) to join us for the campfire and movie? I think it would be fun for the evening. And pretty inexpensive for them to join in.

I wish she was still at the Fort, she is at Saratoga springs now doing their singalong. I didnt get a chance to meet up with her my last trip but she told me she was doing well.

Sure they can come. They would have to park in the overflow lot up by the Fort check-in area (where people driving into the Fort to go to HDDR would park, for example). Then they could walk down to the Meadow Trading Post area or catch an internal bus.
