hi
We are interested in the dinner show at fort wilderness
is it worth the 2 DDP credits ??
My concerns is how to get back at AKL after the show ??
Any experiences at that ???
What time ( dinner ) should we choose ??
Is it running all year long ??
thanks

we love the Hoop d Doo! we have never had the dining plan, but i think it is worth 2TS. getting back to the resort--take the boat to MK and then to the AKL bus. if you are driving your own car, i'm no help:sad2: we do the 7:15 show just as a personal preference. and yes it runs all year. enjoy!:yay:

We just ate there on Monday and loved it. This was our second time to HDDR. We took our grand gathering of 10 there. Everybody loved the food and the show! We were on dining plan and spent 2 table service credits there. We thought it was well worth it.
As for getting back to your hotel, if you go to the 7:15 or later showings, they have buses there to take you back to your hotel straight from HDDR. It was so nice to just hop on a bus and go straight back when we were done. Last time we did the 5:00 show and they don't offer this service to the early shows. I'm glad we did the later one this time. It was great!!

If you do the 5:00 show, just take the boat to MK and catch a bus to your resort. If all adults, I recommend the 9:30 show. You can use your 2 credits to book cat 1, the seats nearest the stage. Plus this show doesn't always sell out and that means more interaction with the cast. BTW is is 3 times a night 365 days a year unless they close a few days in the fall for any maintenance that needs to be done.

Hi
If I understand correctly if we choose a 715 pm show after dinner/ show there will be buses at wilderness lodge to take us back to our resort ??
Since we are going in jan / feb and MK will be closing early I don't think going back at MK and hopping on our resort bus will be working for us I think MK closes around 9pm in jan / feb and if we choose 715pm dinner / show we wouldnt have any transportation to go back to AK .
thanks

there may a boat directly to WL from fort wilderness. be sure to ask. easy option to return!:yay:

I just went to it this past tuesday....I went to the 9:30 show..it's soooo worth the 2 table service credits!!!! It's cold in there ( I thought) so take a jacket...
After our show was over ...they had buses for us to get back to our resorts...I saw the earlier show leave and they also had buses waiting for them.
I got there by taking the resort bus to magic kingdom than taking the boat over which you can get at the magic kingdom entrance and went to fort wildness...it's not hard at all
hope that helps
btw ...the food is very very good!

HDDR is great overall, but don't expect the food to be comparable to other restaurants that take 2 credits on the dining plan. You are basically getting a great show with very good finger foods like fried chicken and biscuits.

I'm looking forward to going in Dec. :yay:

Each trip I have us do something special. First trip is was the Luau, last trip was CRT, and this trip will be HDDR. :woohoo:

Just an FYI, Fort Wilderness, the site of the HDDR, and Wilderness Lodge are 2 different Disney resorts, about a mile apart.
After the 2 late shows there will be buses at Fort Wilderness to take you back to your resort.
There is also a boat between Fort Wilderness and the Wilderness Lodge, but you would need to catch a theme park or DTD bus and transfer to your resort bus. I don't think you want to do that.

I was worried about transportation back to Pop after our 7:15 HDDR. I know we will be tired and I was hoping it wouldn't be a big hassle.
So relieved to hear that they will have buses! When I booked it, the CM said we'd have to head back to MK and take a bus back to Pop.

Yes, worth the two credits. We've done it the last 2 trips and just LOVE it. DD is mesmorized the whole show. Just so you know though, those buses carry more than 1 resort. In 2008 we went to the late show and hardly anyone was there. We got on the bus and it had a few resorts, but even then the bus was practically empty. This past trip in March we went to the 7:15 show and it was packed. We got on the bus as one of the first, but then they just kept packing it full. We were going to Pop. they ended up unloading half the bus a couple of times to get wheel chairs in, and then it was standing room only and I don't think they were even legally allowed to drive with as many people that were on it. Parents with kids on laps and standing people pushed all the way back and smashed and they still said move back more, we have more people to get on. It was just awful and we found out they had 5 resorts on there. They needed another bus, really, Especially with a couple of wheelchairs on the bus as well. So be prepared to be squashed.

The transportaion usually runs a couple of hours after MK closes, so you would stil lbe able to go that rout if the park closes at 9. Lots of people stick around and shop an hour or two after closing.

They don't have bisuits.
The menu is corn bread, mash potatoes, chicken, ribs, salad and cowboy beans...which I think are really gross, but love all the other food. Strawberry shortcake for dessert. I'm not a fan of strawberry shortcake, but I love theirs!

I have never had transportation problems from HDDR, which we do each time we go on the first night there. However, the SOA (luau) last show was miserable. We were at the POFQ and we had to go to Poly's bus stop and pick up a bus to DTD and then transfer to our resort bus, it took us an hour and a half. I swore I'd never do the last SOA show again unless I was staying on monorail system.

We love the HDDR! The show is corny, the food is picnic food, the jokes are horrible, and we love it! We will be there on Dec. 5 (7:15 seating). We have never had problems getting back to POP. We take a boat back to the MK then catch a bus. I think the last time though, we took a boat back to MK, then rode the monorail over to GF to see the gingerbread house then I got lazy and we took a cab back to Pop.

I think it is well worth the 2 DDP credits, but hey to each his own. What I always wonder is how the actors maintain any sanity doing 3 shows a night, 365 days a year.
