A friend of ours suggested that we join her, her DH and her DD (18 months) to stay in a cabin at Fort Wilderness. Our group includes me, DH and DS (18 months).
Looking through some info here and on Disney's website - I don't think it would be very comfortable. Am I wrong? I am thinking it just may be far too cramped and these are friends, not family members that you can be on top of...get my drift?

You will definately not have any privacy with 2 couples and 2 children. The bedroom has 1 double bed and 2 bunks. The other sleeping area is a double murphy bed in the living room. If you were only going for maybe 1 or 2 nights you may be able to do it but I know I would have a problem with any longer.

We stayed in a cabin two years ago with my, my dh, my two ds's (3 & 7 at the time) and my mom. My dh and I and the boys stayed in the bedroom and my mom was in the living room on the murphy bed. Being that we are family, it wasn't too bad.

However, if we were traveling with friends, I don't know if there would be enough room. There is only one bathroom, which may get a little hairy when you are trying to get ready. There would be enough room for a pack-n-play for the baby in both rooms, but someone needs to sleep in the living room. The living room and bedroom are separated by a hallway, so I don't think noise will be a factor. I don't know...I don't know if I could do it. I guess it depends on how close you are with these friends??

BTW, we LOVED the cabins! They really are wonderful and FW is great, a wonderful break from the hustle and bustle of Disney. We will probably be staying in a cabin again in 12/05.

Good luck on your decision!

6 of us go every year to the cabins. Myself, DH and our two DD's stay in the bedroom, the other couple use the Murphy bed in the living room. It's a little cramped, but not too bad. Hey, I figure anytime at Disney is better than none at all!

Have Fun!!

Loretta,

Tell your friends thanks, but that you will meet them out on the dock at The Wilderness Lodge. :p

Actually if they are close friends you should be fine. The only problem I would see is one bathroom.

Perfect solution for me! They were wanting to share to save money. But these are somewhat new friends and my DH does not feel comfortable sharing close quarters with people he doesn't know very well yet. They are great people (Disneyholics) but we just don't know them well enough yet. So, naturally, I want to try and convince them to stay at WL, there is a rate out right now for $114 a night. You know MY take on that! Lets' go back to the Lodge!!!

I agree that it might not be such a good idea. I don't think I, personally, would be comfortable staying with any friends on vacation and come to think of it, not many family members either!

I know that it's just the way we are, and we do have a bunch of kids, but we really value our "down time" as a family and relish being able to get away from everybody at the end of the day.

We love the cabins! But then again I have 5 kids and we take up every bit of space.

I think sharing a cabin with friends, even close friends, would be hard. People are usually set in their wake up routine and relaxing mode. It would be kinda cramped to have two families in one cabin. I would always be on guard that someone is going to see me in my panties - LOL!

I think the WL with connecting rooms would be a great idea. You could close the door when you need privacy, you would each have your own bathroom & space. With the room only and AP rates coming out I'm sure you could find a deal. If their hearts are set on the cabin, let them stay there and you stay real close by - at the WL. There is a path and boat that connect the resorts.

NOW, we must stop talking about the cabins because the cabins are are treasured secret and if everybody starts staying there it will become just too busy. LOL!

Okay enjoy your time at WDW!:D
