Trying to figure out if we should try out the Cabins, or stick with POR. We stayed at POR last year (we're a family of 5), and really enjoyed it. We booked the bounceback free dining offer last year to stay back at POR this year. Now wondering if we should try out the Cabins (I already called, and would be able to still get the free dining). It would be about $1000 more. The boat to MK would be nice, but I really don't know much else about the Cabins. Anyone have feedback, particularly if you've stayed at both? Seems that it would be extra room which would be nice.

Thanks!

You can check out more information about the Cabins on the camping board.

I think one of the advantages of the cabin is the kitchen and the patio. I think one of the big drawbacks is having one double bed and one bathroom.

POR gives you two queen beds (when the refurb is done in August) and a separate toilet/shower area from the sink area, so more people can get ready in the morning at the same time.

There is no food court at Fort Wilderness, so your eating options are a bit more limited. At Trail's End, you can get a few dishes to go, and the Meadows has a snack bar with 5 or 6 meals. If you're doing free dining and plan to eat at the resort, POR gives you more options.

BUT, if you plan to eat out at parks and other resorts, then the Fort is wonderful! You'll have a separate bedroom and living room, two TVs, an outdoor deck, lots of space and privacy. It's so relaxing and can be a vacation in itself. The boat to MK is great, and you can take the boat to the Contemporary and grab the monorail to get to Epcot.

Even if you don't cook in your cabin, having the fridge for water, snacks and breakfast items is great. You'll have a microwave, full size fridge with icemaker, a grill outside and a dishwasher (your mousekeeper will load and run it every day).

We love it there. We've decided we like it better than DVC 1 BR villas, especially for the price difference LOL.

Thanks so much for posting this! I was just going to post the exact same post. We have five people too.. a little worried about being crammed in one room, BUT.. I've never thought about the bathroom having and outside sink, nor did I consider the lack of food court--that's a biggie!

Plus.. I am just not sure if the cabins are worth $1000 more than POR. Anyone else?

THANKS!!!
