I have had the pleasure to have visited the Fort since it opened. My parents brought us for yearly visits until my siblings and i were into our teens. My question is did they have a pool upon opening? if not when was the pool installed? my dad insists that the pool was not there in the 70s and River Country was instead their swimming option. I, of course, insist there was a pool. Can anyone help settle our ummm disagreement? :thumbsup2

eta: i just found this site - its dated 1978 and no mention of any pool

looks like the pool was added in 1985. uhoh guess I owe someone an apology

I also camped there in the 70's. There was not a pool then. We swam in the lake if we did not go to River Country.

I remember going to the pool in the 70's I beleive around 75 also swiming in the lake..

Your dad is right. The pool wasn't there back then, so people swam in Bay Lake.

There is a ton of cool historical Fort information being posted over the past several weeks in this thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2462445. For someone that's been going to the Fort since the beginning, you might find it interesting.
