Edited to say: Have decided on the Westin Diplomat that was recommended by the next poster :)

DH and I are looking for a resort on the beach. We won't have the kids with us, so we are looking for a romantic resort :).

We've never been that far South in Florida. So any recommendations are greatly appreciated!

We'd like to stay under $300 a night, but an ocean view is a must.

Thanks,

Teresa

The Diplomat is beautiful!!! Check Priceline because I think it's the only resort that comes up in Hollywood so it wouldn't hurt to try for it.
Just keep in mind that Trump just put up a beautiful new hotel just a few minutes south of the Diplomat in Sunny Isles called Trump Sonesta Beach, you may want to check their rates because they had some great introductory rates advertised. It's just as nice. I own a condo near there and have been in both hotels.
There is a really good restaurant called Georgios on the intercoastal near the Diplomat you may want to try.

Cheryl,

Thanks for the tip on the restaurant. I will check out the site for the Trump hotel also :).

I'm a little nervous to try Priceline since I am determined to book a room that has an oceanview with balcony. I'm afraid I might get stuck in a standard view room and not be able to upgrade upon arrival

Thanks!

Teresa

I didn't think of that Teresa. I wouldn't want a room that wasn't facing the ocean at either hotel, you would get a view of A1A, not very nice at all!
The thing I like about Sunny Isles in that once you park your car you really don't need it again. You can walk to other good restaurants, Publix, Walgreens & shops. You can even take the bus VERY easily to the Aventura Mall & movies.
