Former Carolyn Bessette Kennedy love...

Ok, I know that she died in a horrible accident years ago and people should just let the poor soul rest in peace, however a new book is out about how Carolyn's former boyfriend, an actor from the show "Baywatch" was involved with her right up until she died with JFK Jr. and her sister on that flight. I wonder what's the motive here...why come forward now? Out of guilt or for money? The guy, Michael Bergin, doesn't strike me as a scumbag, he was just in love with a woman who was "swept" away by JFK during their relationship.

I'd say it's a little of both. A guy mourning the woman he couldn't really have and a whole lot of money on the horizon.

He's been talking about her for years, and I'm not at all surprised he's writing a book.

I think he's a total scumbag who's after money and a little more fame. If he loved her as much as he says he did, why make her look really bad and tell everyone she was a cheating wife? (I had other words in mind but this is a family board ) Honestly, I couldn't care less about her or JFK Jr. but I think this guy is a real jerk. She isn't here to defend herself and her family should have to defend her, especially since she's been gone so long now.

I guess it has to be for money. I think he's married now also, and I couldn't imagine being his wife - imagine being married to this person who pines after a dead woman.

Apparently he talks about terminating an unexpected pregnancy they had in the mid 90's. How awful.

I think the fact that the American public is still obcessed with the Kennedy's is a bit annoying. The fathers of this country fought a war to get away from a monarchy and royalty and look how we embrace the Kennedy family, even Princess Diana. I was so sickened by the 24 hour news coverage of JFK Jr's death. The big 3 networks didn't even cut away from commericals for a while. All just a little to much overkill.

By the way I think he's in it for the money.

I don't think JFK Jr.'s death would have been covered differently if he had been the child of another celebrity or politician. He was stalked by the media during his life, why wouldn't the same be true of his horrid and tragic death?

As for Michael Bergan I think he is doing it for the money and attention.

I watched it too and I don't think he is in it for the money. I think the money was part of it but I think it was probably part of his mourning her.
It may have very well taken him 5 years to reach the point where he could be open about their relationship and as was said last night on the TV special people were critcizing her after her death and he had the truth.

I agree. I saw a preview of the show he was going to be on, and I swear when I saw his eyes, all I saw were dollar signs, not true sadness.

I just feel bad for his wife.....it must be awful seeing how he's never gotten over this other person....but that may be in part to his never getting to say goodbye.

I saw him on Good Morning America this morning and he made a fool of himself. He said he wrote the book because he was mad that someone else wrote a book about her and said they they were having an affair. Robin Roberts asked him "Then why did you also write a book and give even MORE details about the affair?" He didn't know how to answer that one. He also said that he used to do drugs with her. How is that honoring her and preserving her memory? He is obviously just trying to cash in on her death.

I saw 2 minutes of an interview with him and changed it. Very slimey.

Can you imagine how her mother feels? Not only will they not let her rest in peace but people are profiting off her death. This woman lost two daughters that day. I think the key word in all the posts was "scumbag".

I think that JFK Jr. was alot more than just "one of the Kennedy's." He was the son of one of this country's most beloved presidents. It was sort of a big deal.

Anyway, this Bergin guy makes me sick! I watched him last night on tv, acting all sad and everything. He says he loved her so much, but he's on tv talking about affairs, abortions and miscarriages? I think it is awful! He can't be doing it for any other reason than money.

Dh and I came to the conclusion that he's the psycho ex boyfriend type. If I was his wife I would divorce him in a second it's obvious he has major issues and I only saw the last 5 minutes of it while waiting for Airline to come on.
