Doing a little searching on ebay for an inexpensive dinner jacket for the semi formal night I stumbled upon a great seller. He has a lot of inventory in many sizes.

List of the sellers items available on ebay

He has very little negative feedback and all his buyers seem very happy with the products they recieved.

I also want to throw in my two cents since I have a recent experience. We have a black tie wedding to go to this weekend and I suddenly decided that I was extremely unhappy with the dresses in my closet (nothing like waiting until the last minute). Last winter (around christmastime) I picked up a beaded jacket at Marshall's for $15 on clearance. I never wore it because I never found anything to wear UNDER it. This time in hitting the "discount stores" I found a plain black sleeveless dress that goes great under it for $16.99 at Ross. We also found my husband's tux accessories at such places, including really really nice 100% cotton tux shirts (the kind that go for $50 or $60 in dept stores) for $10 a piece. There are DEFINATLEY ways to dress to the nines without spending a fortune!

I agree--you can keep an eye out for bargains and get things for dirt cheap!

I have a few formal gowns and never paid full price. One was $20 on a clearance rack at Macy's, another was $18 at Saks Off 5th and one was about $100 at Nordstroms. Not cheap, but gorgeous and perfect for me in terms of style and color, and was still 80% off when all was said and done.

I bought the Mickey Bow ties and suspenders on E-Bay and spent about $12 for the set. For boys clothes JC Penney puts boys dress clothes on 50% off, then 75% off after Easter. Penney's also has a great suit sale a couple times a year, wher eyou can get over 50% off on suits.

Help me find a tux vest on ebay for a boy -- size 8 or so. I had my son in a vest for a wedding and he looked GREAT. But, I don't what the whole tux for him -- the vest and shirt would be fine.

I'd be thrilled if I could find the same vest on the link in kid sizes.

Many men just wear black suits, so don't stress about a tux...JMHO. I don't remember seeing more than 10 men in tuxes last time..

I just got a formal at JCPenney for $20! They are having a great clearance sale and have beautiful dresses!

I too love a bargin...I was shopping at JC Penneys and found a pant suit..get this...this is the best part..it was $17.00. I was tickled pink..ya see I don't usually do "girl" clothes, prefer my jeans, tennies and t's but at 17.00 I couldn't resist! It's not too girlie and I'll get lots of use out of it.

Cindy
:p

p.s. Now's the time to shop...bargins, bargins, everywhere!

I have cruised many times and this will be the first time I will wear a tux. Just wore my dark (funeral) suit.

I never once felt out of place.

I did feel a little jealous, and that is what finally made me ask for a tux as a present last year.

On our past cruises I've just worn a suit for both formal and informal night. However, on this past cruise (Aug. 16-23) I noticed a LOT more men were wearing the traditional tux.

I would say that either is fine and the suits don't have to be black.

Jim - I bet you sparkle in that tux!!!!!

Jason - Get real, my dear son! You and Travis would look great in a loin cloth! Ohhh my! Did that really come out of Momma Rae's mouth!!!!! Ohhh, must be something with us fat middle aged mothers!

Rae- perhaps you could lend them Tom's (or Bob's or Keith's)...

SYMS had a sale a few weeks ago and my hubby got a beautiful wool tux for under $200. I also got a nice gown with a matching jacket for under $100. I was thinking of another idea if you have time to really poke around though. Why not try consignment shops? Although I haven't looked in detail, I bet you could find suits and tuxes there and probably at a great price. I'll bet when a spouse dies (not to be morbid) or maybe loses or gains weight, the wife donates clothing to these type of shops. If you are on a tight budget, why not try there? You never know. You could always have the outfit dry cleaned before wearing it.

Hi kpgclark.

Isn't a wife also a spouse?

And according to Jim, he's gonna wear his finery forever...

Yes, that is correct. A spouse can be either a man our woman.

Jim - would you consider a "loin cloth"for tropical night?

I am going to get BD one for his next cruise.......

My Tom in a loin cloth?!!!! Oh now, that's just for private viewing!!!!

Rae,

I'll try anything once.

R's a Scot, so she should be used to that thing.
