I know there are 2 formal nights on the 7 day cruise (we're going 11/16), but when do we find out which nights they are? Is that something that they'll tell us once aboard the ship? We know to bring formal outfits (DH owns a tux and I was recently in several weddings so I'll wear my bridesmaids outfits) but I'm just curious to know which nights it'll be. Thans!

Youre cruising the Eastern Caribbean? Your cruise date is 2wks before ours.
Formal night is Sun night, semi-formal night is Thurs night and tropical night is Tues night.
There are 3 restaurants w/regular menus you will be on other nights - Animator's Palate where there is a show and the walls will change color - we are wearing black & white and hopefully I can find colored beads, Parrot Cay which has a tropical atmosphere so of course Im wearing a casual dress w/palm trees, and Lumiere's that is more dressy so I'll wear a long skirt w/matching top here.
Then there is Small World night on the last night. Since we are Americans Im planning on red/white/blue outfits with our Mickey flag pins.

Lumieres is a bit dressier, but you really don't need a long skirt for it. "Sunday best" is about right, except of course on formal and semi-formal nights when a long skirt would be perfect!

Yup, we're doing the 7 night Eastern. Thanks for the info, everyone. I'll have to check out that thread, Diva. I thought there were 2 formal nights on the 7 day cruise, not 1. Was that changed? DOes this mena that DH only needs to wear his tux on one night and I only need to bring 1 of my bridesmaids dresses (my formal dresses)? I got this from the Disney Cruise Line Website
Aboard the 7-Night Caribbean Cruise there are two evening dinners that require more formal, or "black-tie-optional", attire. Tuxedo rentals are available in advance for these special dinners.

Back in March 2002, Lumiere's showed, "Suggested Dress: Jacket Recommended, no shorts or jeans please." But that seems to have changed.

As I posted in another thread, for Lumiere's on the nights that are not formal, semi-formal, or tropical, the recent Navigators now indicate, "Suggested Dress: Casual, no shorts or jeans please" -- just like Parrot Cay and Animator's Palatte.

You may still want to dress up a little more at Lumiere's anyway -- but strictly as a matter of choice, not to comply with the recommended attire.

There is one formal night and one semi-formal night but they are referred to as the "formal nights". imgoingtodisney is correct in that Formal night is Sunday and Semi-Formal is Thurs on the Eastern. You hubby can certainly wear his tux to both, many people do. I wore a long gown on formal night and a dressy black pant suit on semi-formal night, but you could also wear a long then as well.

You will see most people dress very nicely on both nights you will not be out of place wearing a long gown to either.

The charts I created (the link in the other post) tell what restaurants you will be in according to what dining rotation you receive. You will find that rotation out when you check in at the terminal. It will be listed on your KTTW card, APLAPLA, PLAPLAP, or LAPLAPL. Then you would know what nights you were in which restaurants.

THanks, everyone!! Since we are getting the Romance Package, we already got a call from the cruise line telling us our dining rotation and letting us make our Palo reservations. We have LAPLAPL and will be eating dinner at Palo on Thrusday. Since that's one of the formal nights I'm excited we'll be at Palo then!!!!!
