forgive me while i have a rant

This is the same as us we live on a nice popular estate in a nice area. The woman who is causing all the trouble is a nurse at the local hospital and goes around with her nose so far up in the air it has snow on it!!!but really she is a common as muck!!! her whole familly try to be something they are not.

I can really sympathise here- definitely keep the diary but bear in mind what Miffy said about selling- I do think you are now legally obliged to declare if you have had any "differences" with your neighbours to any potential buyers.
We had a bit of a celebration last weekend as our horrible neighbour moved out- she used to slam her front door so hard our whole house would shake and the plaster even started coming off the top of the wall! She also had a lot of "gentleman callers" at night, and we could hear everything if you know what I mean- most embarrassing if we had visitors!
However the landlord is not sympathetic at all so goodness knows who will move in next.....

Im really sorry to hear about your horrible neighbours. We have been very lucky with all of ours so far. The ones that we have now are lovely. I hope you get it all sorted soon.

Sorry to hear about all your neighbours. We've been lucky for the most part. We've had two families on one side who have both been lovely, first family even had our spare keys and alarm codes for when we went on holiday - sadly they moved to Thailand!

House on the other side is a different story, it's rented and we've just had the 3rd family in a year move in. First lot was two guys who seemed lovely at the time. Thing is they suddenly got very friendly with our other neighbours and talked about fishing a lot. They moved out with no warning in the middle of the night and, rather strangely timed you might say, the neighbour's garage was broken into that night and all the fishing gear stolen, but only the good/expensive stuff!

Next lot was a couple in their early 30's who we never really knew. Thing is their car become very good friends with our lawn and the lawn of their other neighbour. He went as far as putting a metal pole in his lawn to stop the car driving over his grass, every day that pole would be lying on the field across the road!!! Our grass is only just starting to recover now, it basically became a muddy bog on that side.

New neighbour's only moved in this week so we've not had chance to form an opinion. They had a party today that stopped about an hour ago. A kid there kicked his football into our garden about 15 times in an hour, it was beginning to get very irritating. Hope they're ok though.

There's a house down the road that holds lots of BBQ's in the summer. The sound of 15 drunken men singing "Bat out of Hell" or a medley of Bon Jovi/Bryan Adams songs at midnight is a sound to be heard, especially when mixed with the constant hiss of their OH's berating them for waking the neighbours and trying to drag them indoors!!! It's only at weekends though so nobody cares as it's so funny ever summer!!

I guess Im pretty lucky with the neighbours. Living in a corner house helps though !
Apart from a late night party once or twice a year where the kareoke machine seems to get dragged out at 4AM, our neighbours have been absolutely fine.
I would like to think they would think the same of us.
They might not be so fond of us when the new garage gets built though (it backs on to their garden). Its going to be just over a foot higher than the old one.

I live in a high rise flat. The people above and below are normal, on occassions you will hear them, but not very often. The ones to our right are fine .... if it had not been for me running into them one afternoon I would think no one lived there. Its the people to the left of us. Argh!

They have a toddler who makes noises all hours of the day and night. It will be 3am and you will hear him scream for about an hour. Or 5 you will hear something that sounds like he is sanding right about our heads. I am not mean, i don't mind noise on occassions ... but this kid is getting to much. We have re-arranged the bedroom to try to get away from the noise but it does not help. I would swap the bedroom and living room around, but it would be weird to have a kitchen in the bedroom.

We are barely 3 months into our contract and are considering bailing at 6 months to another flat because of this kid.

That said, I bet we are the neighbours from hell ... we try to keep it down, but I have this habit of dropping remote controls on the wooden floor at 2am, which i can know can be heard by the people below us.

Good luck, I'm also a T-shirt wearing member of the club.

My first neighbour - in my very first house - used to have his mates round and turn the stereo up to 10 playing the same songs for hours on end, it got so bad I had to go to a friends house to study. He also had the back yard full of cannibis plants!

Following that I got an elderly couple - he would come home drunk and she would tear into him followed by him serenading her to get into the house... luckily it didn't happen too often.

The next were the worst, he was a druggie and he regularly used to fight with and beat his girlfriend up, trouble was I knew her (vaguely) she was only 16/17 and had lived at my friends house cause she was in trouble with her parents... very sad. Even wierder was that his brother lived next to us on the other side, and he didn't want anything to do with little bro', which didn't always go down well...

Luckily after all that it only got better, and now, although our next door neighbour does like to play guitar at night in his pyjama's... ;)

Good luck, it is such a pain when you can't feel comfortable in your own house! I feel for you.
