Forecast - thunderstorms next 10 days

It's supposed to pour rain non stop almost the entire week starting sometime tomorrow night or Monday through next Sunday when we leave. I'll do the Parks in rain, but can't do it in torrential down pours.

Unfortunately it's going to be a huge waste of money. Can't even swim in the pool at our rental home.

We had torrential rain one of our park days in July. We just put on our ponchos and trotted around EPCOT. The crowds completely disappeared, and we got on everything with no waits. Pretty much everything is inside, so it worked out really well.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the forecast is almost never totally accurate. Although it will likely rain, you'll probably get some good weather breaks. We are headed down later this week, and we're ready for anything weather-wise. I'll be a little disappointed if we can't show off our costumes at MNSSHP, but other than that, the rain shouldn't be a huge factor. It will reduce crowds and heat. I'll keep my fingers crossed for good weather for both of us!

That sucks, I am sorry. One of my favorite days at HS was in the rain, but it wasn't non-stop. I hope you get some good weather too.

Yeah I know Florida weather, but this isn't usual Florida storms, this is a tropical depression that no matter which track it takes is supposed to dump heavy rain all week almost non stop.

As for poncho-ing it.... We might try it but not if it's as heavy as they are forecasting. My wife and daughter are not the "getting soaked" type, no matter how much money we have already put out. Also, Ponchos don't do anything when it rains that heavy, you may as not bother wearing one, you will get just as wet. Unless you have rain gear that costs a few hundred dollars, believe me, I know, I'm a mailman. Also, the main attractions that we want to ride are all going to be closed. Everest, Kilimanjaro, Big Thunder(already closed), Splash, Mine Train.

I'm seriously thinking about not using our 5 day Park hoppers and saving them for another trip and maybe just paying day by day depending on how hard it's raining.

What makes you think it's going to "pour rain non stop?" The forecast shows scattered showers ever day because it will rain somewhere in Orlando once every day. Maybe for two hours; maybe 15 minutes.

Almost every day it says a chance of showers or scattered showers. That is typical September weather and not even close to "non stop rain."

Pretty much every day the month of September will show a rain closed because most days there is a short rain shower.

Weather channel looks like 40-60% rain chances the next few days there. Mainly in the afternoons. So that's a 60-40% chance of staying dry, right? Not the best odds, but not the worst. My plan would be to hit the parks early at Rope Drop, if possible, and play the afternoons by ear. I just have a feeling it will be better than you're worried it will be.

How about some costumes that would go well with rainy weather, for example: Mary Poppins. Jiminy Cricket. I bet there are creative people out there who can think up even more ideas for rain-compatible costumes.

And last week they were forecasting a possible hurricane that travelers were worried about. And it didn't happen.

I just looked at wunderground...shows daily showers but amount predictions only .01-.47 of an inch. As PP suggested...rope drop daily and take a break indoors when the showers come. We were at the International Youth Soccer Tournament in July, 2014...this greeted us daily beginning early afternoon:

...the girls played ONE entire game; 1 finished after a 2 hour rain delay and a couple shortened due to showers. Yes...the lightening/thunder was frightening but our group of 37 still managed to make ALL of our dinner reservations; saw all the shows we intended on seeing and rode all attractions they had their hearts set on. Downside...wet ponchos AND soccer gear all over our rooms but it was one of the BEST of our 20 trips to DW. Memories to last a lifetime!

When things go wrong, it's going to be up to you to set the tone for te group. You may or may not be successful, but you can model resilience in the face of adversity.

And even if some members of your crew aren't the "get wet" type. This is the once time and place to accept and embrace and laugh in the rain. It's a complete change in mindset, but one that will allow everyone to create great memories even in a torrential downpour.

Bring sandals, ponchos, umbrellas and make the best of it. You can't change the weather, you can change your attitude. We go in August every year and we've had trips where it's rained every day for hours and trips where we've had zero rain for days (although it threatened to rain). We look for breaks in the rain and go from attraction to attraction, sure we get wet but the crowds are a lot lighter and except for the outside stuff we get to do all the things we want to do. Find the things you can do instead of the things you can't do.

Some of out fondest memories are running through the rain in ponchos and having fun. So many people stay in their hotels and mope about the rain. We chose to venture out. Lines for rides were super quick. It's not that bad. It only is a pain if there's lightening. Hopefully , it's the typical afternoon storm that is quick and rolls away. Hang in there.

I have a clear rain jacket like what the CMs wear. Covers me from head to toe, hood has a drawstring, big ole pockets and since I'm height challenged comes all the way down to my ankles. Folds up small, I stay dry and play in the rain and it's even the only time I ride Splash Mountain. I use three different weather apps and none of them are predicting non-stop rain all week. "Chance of a thunderstorm" is the most common shared forecast, with the probability of that hovering around 50-60%. Less than an inch of rain predicted on each day. That's a pretty normal "summer in Florida" forecast.

Yesterday had the same forecast and it rained hard for 15 minutes, stopped for 10, started again for 20, and then it was fine the whole rest of the day. (At my park, anyway. Don't forget that WDW is big and MK doesn't always have the same weather as DAK.)

Don't write off your entire trip yet.
