Do you believe that your pet can come back as a ghost?

It was three years ago to the day. I dreamt the first pup I had was lying on the bed with me and was back to her vibrant self and seemed to say that she was happy now and out of pain. I was petting her and telling her how much I missed her. I then woke up and I was in the sitting position I dreamt in my dream and I swear that I was still petting her and then she slowly disappeared. I think, too much tequila the night before. :scared1:

I was then showing off pictures of the kids (dogs) and someone who’s into all the supernatural and “other-worldly” kinda things says to me….”you got a ghost!”

“Huh…..????” sez I.

She says the white orbs that show up in pictures are actually spirits.

Bright orb in between the two was HER spot on the bed. She liked the middle.

Left hand corner. Under the chair…see it?
:scared1:
So I started checking. Many pics I have of these two playing have these orbs in them. But other pictures WITHOUT them don’t have any orbs.

Why she have to tell me that about the orbs????? Now I'm gonna go home and wanna do a doggie sayance or something.....

I wish my sweet kitty would come back! I lost him 5 months ago and a day doesn't go by that I don't think of him and if we made the right decision. He had facial cancer that was spreading and no cure!! I have been watching for signs, but none so far. I dream about him, but not that he came back. Anxiously awaiting his return!!!

I've heard about the orb thing. I went on a ghost tour in Yorktown, VA (much less commercialized and more real than the stupid Williamsburg one) and the guide was all about these orbs. We took tons of pictures (we had a film camera) and when we got them developed, there were orbs in some of them. The most we saw were in the "most haunted" area of the walk :earseek:

You've got a ghost my friend :goodvibes

Hmmmm....reckon your 2 live dogs are poscessed then, because I see small white orbs where their eye sockets are! Sorry, KIDDING! :rotfl: Actually, I've heard the very same thing about the white orbs in pics. My DSD takes pics of cemetaries and other (supposedly) haunted places and keeps sending me stuff via email that is positively freaky. Not entirely sure I'm sold on this, however. :confused3

That is very interesting. I would love if my Nakita (she died about 5 years ago) was with me. HHHHHMMMMM. Maybe they do come back to visit. I'm not sure. I guess I will have to take pictures around my house and see what happens. LOL.

The first time I had to put my first dog to sleep was in 1998. I questioned whether or not I made the right decision for a long time after. About a year later I had a dream that I was in an apartment building looking for him. I knocked on the door and this couple gave him back to me. They said he was glad to see me. I remember very clearly that he looked like his happy little self again and was kissing my face. 2 nights ago, I had a dream that I was holding a dog and petting him and he was kissing my face. When I was able to see his face, it was him again looking happy and wonderful. I woke up right after. So I think that pets do come to tell you, somehow, even in dreams, not to worry that they are ok.

I believe that animals have spirits, just like we do; and that they come and visit us, just as our human loved ones do. I’ve read/heard that the orbs are angels, though. (But it doesn’t matter to me whether they’re spirits or angels, I like to see them in photos.)

I sometimes imagine my cat, Otis, coming to visit me. Other than in dreams, I’ve never actually seen or felt him, but it makes me feel better to believe that he’s with me.

My dog came back several times. First time was on his birthday the year he was put down. It was april and I was on the couch in the den alone. I was laying with my eyes closed and suddenly I hear these feet come up to me like either a dog or my son in feety pjs. I do not open my eyes but suddenly the tv that was off turned on! It was blaring too. I thought I was laying on the remote control but found it was in the other room and not even near me. I thought it was my 3 year old but went and checked and he was asleep in my bed. I was so freaked I called my cousin the next day. He is an electrician and he checked out the outlet, circuits everything. Then I called RCA and spoke to an engineer! He could not tell me why or how the tv turned on. Suddenly I looked at the calendar and found out that it was Buster's b'Day and we had not celebrated. The next time it happend I was in bed and the door next to my bed began to open. It was as if a tail or nose was pushing it back and forth. I sat up and looked at it as it moved. It was not near any windows nothing!! I said Buster I am so glad you re here but you are scaring me and it stopped. My son told me he dreamed that Buster had come back to him in a dream. He was outside his window and he let him in. He told me he was a few feet above the ground. I too dreamed I was driving down the street and he was running beside the car. I opened the door to let him in. I knew he was not in this world but I hugged him, brought him into the car and he stayed with me even though he was on the other side. I think that is the reason that for about 4 years after his death, there was some sort of incident on his birthday and the day he passed. I would always forget but then something would happen just on that day the tv would turn off for no reason or a light would flicker oddly. Once we got our new dog it stopped and never happned again. I think Buster is still here but he knows his family is taken care of. I do not care if people think I am crazy , my family did too until THEY witnessed some of the strange things that happned.

I have heard from so many people who have lost loved ones (human variety) have had electrical...disturbances for awhile after the death. I understand this is quite common, and it happens to people who don't believe in this kind of thing, too. My sister had a lot of experiences like you describe after her 30-year-old husband died of cancer. One night about 2 weeks after he died she was sitting on her bed, and someone knocked on the door. It was late, and it scared her. She didn't answer it. Then they started pounding. She went to the door and looked out the peephole, but there was no one there. This was while there was pounding so you can imagine how freaked out you'd be, but I think at this point she felt it was him. It stopped and when she got the nerve to open the door, she found that her keys were in the lock. She felt like he was watching out for her--this was just one example.

Bella, that is so funny what you said about your son's dream! When I was 14, a large starving dog covered with what looked like red mange came up to our road one Sunday. We lived way out in the country. Animal control & the pound would not come help him and there were no vets open & no ER vets. I fed him and came in and cried, he was so pitiful & grateful. The next morning about 8, I dreamed he came to my mother's bathroom window which was several feet off the ground and licked my nose. My mother found out later that right about that time, our neighbor had taken the dog out and shot him (sad, I know, that was common where we lived). I think he was telling me he was ok. I don't care if people think I am crazy either.

A few years ago I was folding laundry on my bed. I was on the far side of the room from the door (which was open). I still swear to this day I seen a dog we had that had to be put to sleep a few months before- run down the hall. I could hear the footsteps- which is why I looked up. It was so real I went out the bedroom and down the stairs after it. Of course I couldn't still see anything. So, I think it was a "visit". The funny thing was I felt real comforted and not scared like I would think I would.

This topic has come up several times in my family.

Our family had a pet dog Bridgette a.k.a B-dog for 13 years.

We had to put her to sleep due to age and illness. For my mom, it was like putting one of her children to death. The rest of the family hurt as well. I will admit, it has been over five years and my heart aches as I type this.

My mother often tells us the see she a quick white (B-dog was a white pom) flash at her feet at times.

I have driven to my parents and maybe I am crazy, but I have seen B-dog standing on her hind legs in the window as to welcome me home like she did when I was gone away to college, boot camp, etc.

My parents have since gotten a new pet named Cha-Chi, and the flashes are less frequent.

I think maybe B-dog knows that my mother now has another "child" and who is comforting my mother so she only "checks in" periodically.

As I type this and read my own words, I know if these were someone elses words, I would have my doubts, so I con only say what I feel to be true.

SO the answer is yes, I think some of our pets stay with us at times.

Maybe I am crazy. :confused3

EDIT:

I feel a little better. I only read the OP and started typing my reply. After typing my reply I went back and read the entire thread. It seems that many of us have had the same experience.

Maybe I am not crazy after all :goodvibes

Your dogs are beautiful!!!

We had a wonderful German Shepherd that died much to early. He was only 5yrs old and he died of Lymphnoma :guilty:

The day we had to put him to sleep he was unable to say goodbye to my DD (who was 4 at the time) and he loved her very much and she loved him very much too. The late part of the afternoon a bird literally fell out of the sky and landed in the driveway about 2ft in front of DD. She started yelling for me because this poor little bird was just laying there trying to get up. My DH and I were so devostated over our dog dying that my DH said to me, "I can't handle another animal dying today." So he picked up the bird in his hands and started to pet it's head with his finger. The bird looked at him with great comfort and then he let my DD pet it too. The bird looked at her with very sad but comforted eyes and then died in my DH's hands.

I swear to this day, that this was my beloved dog coming back as this bird to say a final goodbye to my DD. Many people think that this is outrageous, but I believe it with my whole heart.

Everytime I retell this story it gives me goosebumps. My Sampson has been dead for 3 years now and I still grieve for him everyday. His ashes are on our mantel and he is always with us.

I believe that animals, just the same as people can come back in various spirit forms to revisit places or people. Whether or not they're "seen" or felt, well..that's up to the individual.
I just recently finished redecorating my bedroom and had taken some photos to show a friend. Some taken at night; some during the day; about half of them had Orbs in them. But as I look at them.. the Orbs are always in two places; where Moondoggy, our 12 year greyhound sleeps; and over in the other corner; which is where Journey used to sleep. "Angel" Journey is now in greyhound heaven.. he died on 9/11/2002 at age 15.. That entire last night.. he couldn't sleep.. I laid on the floor with him; my husband was working the night shift, and all night he had his paw on my face and every time I tried to change position he'd move his paw like to keep me there.
We finally both fell asleep when the sun started to come up.. and I woke up when he struggled to get to his feet to meet his "dad" at the door for the last time.
BUT.. you know? I think he's visiting alot..and bringing friends!

We had to put our wonderful german shepherd to sleep 17 years ago. To this day, I still get tears in my eyes when I think of her. Every now and then, when I'm feeling lonely she comes to me in a dream. We always have only one day together, and then she has to "go back." The two of us are very sad to part again, and I always wake up crying. I really think this is my Heidi coming back to me to tell me that I'm not alone and that she really misses me, too. :dog:

The first thing I want to say is that Sylvia Brown(When shes on Montel)always talks about these orbs. Many people bring pictures to her with orbs in them.
2nd, April 25, 2005 we put to sleep,my beloved "Chelsea", she was a 10 yr old black lab mix(about 70 pds). She had cancer in the back of her mouth. Even after 2 surgeries, she was going down hill fast. With mouth cancer, she had a horrible stench(just think VERY bad breath)coming from her mouth. I would be at my computer, and I could smell her before I saw her .
Anyways, 4 days later after she was gone, I was sitting at my desk on the computer. And, I Smelled her, I automatically turned around to look for her. I knew she wasnt "really" there, but I know that was her visiting me. It only happened that one day, and it was kinda weird for me. But, the bottom line is I do believe she was back to let me know she was ok.
Me and the kids still talk to her every now and then we say "Chelsea puppy dog, we love you and miss you..."so we hope she hears it.
