For those who used DDP and DDE together in the past, those were the glory days.

I'll just have my friends who are not on the dining plan order the booze.

I don't see the problem with using it when ordering a meal you plan to pay for. How would they know you're on the dining plan if you are paying for the meal?
 
We have a TS meal scheduled with free DDP for each night at WDW. All but 2 of our ADRs are buffet/family style, so no issues there. The 2 non buffet meals are CR and Teppanyaki. If DD3 shares with us or does not eat for any reason at either of these, we were going to use her leftover credit towards the bill for our Ohana's breakfast, using the DDE for the balance. I guess it's not that big of a deal to not get the discount for the one meal (about 5.?) as opposed to using the leftover credit for DD's Ohana breakfast (about 11), so we're still ahead, I guess.
 
Ypu wouldn't think there would be issues with separate checks in general using the DDE, but there are. :confused3 The servers are willing. The managers are not.
