I want to get points transferred to me .. The renter would like paypal echeck all money up front. I realize that is probably normal. Do I have them call disney 3 way to verify they have the points. Sent the money, then call back to transfer the points? The person is from a different disney board.

We want a different resort's 11 month booking window that we don't own.

Second question with my other contract , I want to transfer them out to help pay for the other points I need. I can do that correct?, since they are different contracts? And can I borrow my 2013 points into my 2012 use year then transfer them all out as one transfer?
And then just rent the other points.

I did call CM and I did receive 2 different answers.
Thank you.

not sure just make sure when talking to DVC you do not mention paying for a transfer as that is not allowed.

You cannot transfer borrowed points, so don't count on doing that. You can transfer points from your current and next Use Year though.

As for the specific details of the transfer you want to receive, that will be up to you and the other member in your negotiations.

Good luck !

Just wanted to clarify that would need two completely separate memberships, one that can receive the transferred points, and another membership that can transfer points out. If you have a single membership number, with multiple resorts or subcontracts, that will not work. You need two totally separate membership numbers.

You should also know that DVC doesn't do well with transfered points. Unless there have been recent changes, they are not visible in your account and MS has trouble when you go to use them.
Also if you pay before the transfer, the other party can hang up and you are out the money. Disney will not get involved.

With transfers, someone always has to go first. I have gotten a few transfers into my account. Out of all of them, I have only paid up front once because I was able to call a main government number from a website and get that individual at work. Otherwise, I request the transfer of points first. My thinking is: I am verified to that individual by providing my member number and name (I also provide address and phone number and tell the person doing the transfer to make sure they verify that information with MS to "make sure the transfer is going to the right person"). I have no idea who I am dealing with on the other side usually. All you get is their e-mail to pay via PayPal and a phone number/contact and name that may or may not be real. In all the transactions I've tried to put together I have so far only had 3 individuals refuse to do the transfer first and those all happened this year (one of which I did take the transfer from because I verified where he worked). Best advice is do what you feel comfortable doing. I can understand someone not wanting to transfer their points first since it is a final transaction, so that person has to do what is right for them. For me, I see it as more likely that someone is trying to scam me out of money than it is for me to use my one transfer per year to scam them out of points. All that said, I did feel comfortable sending the money first on an occasion where I was able to verify the person doing the transfer. Good luck.

Thank you for your responses. Yes, the contracts do have different member numbers. The member has offered to make the ressie also, it would be at Aulani. I just know if I have questions or want booked events there- I would need to contract the member to get it done. If I got the points into my account then I could do it myself.
If disney has isssues finding transferred in points I could lose that 11 month window that I'm really looking for our June vacation. Hmmm what to do, what to do. D

I have done several transfers and always require payment first. My thinking is that of the two parties involved in the transaction I know for sure that one can be trusted with 100% certainty. :thumbsup2

Funny how two people can see the same situation so differently. ;)

Agree... in almost all situations, the buyer of anything almost always have to pay first and take that risks. I just don't see transferring points being something different that would make the seller give out the points first before anything's paid for.

MS does not have any problem tracking the transferred points. If you receive a transfer of points for a resort different than your Home Resort, you will be able to use them for a reservation at that resort 11 months in advance.

The points might not be viewable online in your account, but MS will be able to easily track them. We have not had a report of members not being able to use transferred points to make a Home Resort reservation using those points. Several have reported being able to see transferred points online recently, so even that may no longer be an issue.

I agree. Having had points transferred into my account several times, MS has never had any difficulty finding them... and the transfers were to allow for 11 month bookings. Unless something has changed, they do not show up online so you will have to call to book... no big deal.

In the past, I have always paid first, the member then transfers the points and I call MS to verify. I have never felt the need for a three way phone call... but I have always purchased points from DIS members with long and visible prescences on the boards. Trust I think is the key issue.
