How loud was it in your room?

We will be going in a few weeks and requested WOC view for our 1 bedroom DVC.

I don't want to be awake because the WOC is so loud we can't sleep especially if they have 3 shows.

We stayed at HoJo's once and it felt like the fireworks were in our room, there was no way to sleep till they were over.

So for anyone who has stayed at Grand Cal during the practice shows how loud was it?

We were there last week, and I can tell you that we heard it, enough to make me think twice about staying there while they were doing 3 shows a night. Our first room was 4504, iirc, which is 4th floor, and while sitting on the sofa, I could tell when the testing started up at night. Could tell enough that I knew to jump off the sofa to see what all was happening. You can also hear the screams of Guests on Mulholland Madness fairly well.

I could also plainly hear the music for WOC when they were testing it at 7:00 a.m. in the morning. If that will be the normal volume level, then add 6,000 people viewing the show with their oohs and aahs and clapping and cheering, it might make me think about requesting a pool view instead of a Paradise Pier view.

That being said, I do not think they did any testing right when we were going to bed, so I cannot attest to the fact that it would keep you awake, and it also would be determined if you were a light sleeper or not.

Our second room (waitlist didn't come thru), was 1502, which would have been the studio attached to the one-bedroom we were in, if it were on the 4th floor, rather than the 1st, had a lovely construction fence view, but we could hear WOC just as plain there.

I have mentioned the sound issues on another Board and never got any response, but it will be interesting to hear from those that are there the first few nights of it really happening. :goodvibes

I travel with a white noise machine (about the size of a clock radio)... never had anything keep me awake (or wake me up for that matter)... it might be worth considering for some of you light sleepers!

I also use a white noise machine and it works well, so well to a point you can get addicted.

Other than having to move I hope your trip went well.

We were in room 4516 facing Redwood Creek Challenge. and I will agree that it was fairly loud. We were on "East Coast Time" so it was fairly common for us to be in the room by 8:30 or 9 and boy could we hear it! I was wondering how or if I would know when to pop out on the balcony to listen and when they first cued up the music, I heard it immediately. My husband was watching a ball game and it didn't interrupt the TV at a moderate volume, but if you were sleeping it would wake you (at least if you are a a light sleeper like me).

I would suggest a white noise machine or earplugs for little ones. And make sure the balcony door is closed and latched. We noticed it was very loud from the balcony but with the door closed it cut out a lot of noise.

I guess we just found the only downside to practically being in the park!

I hope we can hear, smell, and taste the WoC from our villa. I can sleep at home. :rotfl2:

Can I ask about your white noise machine?

I really need to start bringing something! DH snores:upsidedow

Is it the kind that makes ocean sounds etc? Or just a fan?

Thank you!

We're in room 2504 (2nd floor). When they were practicing in the middle of the night I couldn't hear anything. The only reason I knew anything was going on was because I looked out the window.

Tonight we came back and discovered it was going. We decided to go up to the Paradise View Terrace and it's loud outside. Not cover your ears loud, but there's a huge difference between door closed and door open loudness. (We saw the better part of the show up there and then were asked to leave. Not sure why, there was another couple up there and our room keys worked to get up there.) We could see that at CA, the whole viewing area was full of people.

Anyway, we also use a white noise sound maker and I LOVE it. I take it with me everywhere I travel. Makes a HUGE difference with covering up noise. For the poster who asked-mine is a clock radio and theres 6 sound options to choose from-all nature. My old one had white noise, but it broke on our last trip. :(

Oh man not me, if I don't get a descent night's sleep, I am not a pleasant person to be around at all. I need my sleep to function and enjoy my day.

I naturally run on about 6-7 hours a night. I have never been a sleeper. Knowing there is something cool going on inhibits my ability to sleep.
