For those who purchased "kids free" tickets

we were at universal february 5th. we got the free kids when you buy adult 5 day pass. the tickets did not say child or adult but the plu ended different on the tickets 3 tickets had a 1 at the end and 3 tickets had a 2. we only used 5 of the 6 tickets that i bought. i checked with guest services and they said the other ticket would be good forever. hope this information is correct. also no one asked about ages of children in either disney or universal. my 9 year old daughter is very tall for her age (58 inches) but no one questioned us. my other daughter was 1 week shy of her 3rd birthday and we were never asked about a ticket for her either. i find it hard to believe that the parks would interogate children about how old they are. i am sure that the park owners want you in a good mood, happy spending lots of money. if i had been questioned about a birth certificate or forced to pay an adult admission for a 9 year old i think i would have thought twice about returning to this park. also we spent a large amount of money in the parks buying food souveniers games etc.

Newsliner1- How did you recieve your tickets? At the kiosk or thru the mail?

Thanks for the info.

Tandyc

Newsliner1 says that they were at the parks on February 5th. Phamton posted earlier that the kiosk tickets didn't start printing child/adult designations until February 7th. So Newsliner1 wouldn't have the tickets with child or adult printed on them. Right?

That is correct. They started on the 7th printing the child and adult on the tickets printed at the kiosks.

sorry if this has been answered somewhere in this thread already, but if I buy these tickets(buy 2 days get 3 free) now and go in august for 2-3 days, can the rest of the days be used in dec? thanks, maggie

No, they expire 4 days after the first use. They must be used consecutively. It would be nice if we could use them that way!

Please don't be too angry, I looked through all of the posts - but did not find my answer. We bought 3 adult tickets and the 3 free child tickets. We are not using all of them, we only needed 5. We needed the 3 adult(one child is 12), but knew we did not need the extra child........with the intentions of giving it to my brother for his family when they go...Anyway, my question is: If one ticket is used, do all of ours start the 5 day timer? My brother is going before us, so when he activates the extra ticket will ours also activate? Sorry if this is stupid-just do not want to get down there at the end of May and have to buy new tickets!!! thanks everyone!

From what I understand, each ticket starts when it is first used, so the rest of the tickets would still be good. The only thing, is that if there was a problem at the gate with the ticket that you are giving to brother scanning correctly, they would have to go to guest services, and if you were not with them, there could be a problem with his family using the ticket.
Phamton is the expert in this area, maybe she will be along to verify this for you.

Your brother can use the ticket. If there is any problem at the gate with the ticket not scanning properly, they will send him to Guest services. Just have your brother let them know that you purchased the tickets and gave one to him. It should be fine.

Which tickets have less problems with scanning the ones you by online and print out or the tickets that are mailed to you? :confused3

Thanks.

don't know about less problems but the ones you pick up at the kiosk are free, no charge for printing.

if you choose to have them sent to your home it is $15 charge.

less problems on your wallet if you pick them up at the park kiosk.......

Very few tickets have problem scanning. It is rare but does happen occassionally. Neither the print at home or the kiosks are more prone to problems. It really doesn't make any differnce .

Thanks for the information. We are planning our first trip this June. I am going to see if I come out better doing a package deal or just doing the room and tickets. Any suggestions? :) We will be staying for 4 days and we want to do both universal parks and a day at seaworld. pixiedust:

it depends which way you come out ahead based on a few things.

staying on site? there are packages for staying off site
kids? all adult trip?

i used a package 2 times but only because it was a promo and i got more bang out of my buck .

most of the times i book room and tickets separate and use discount card

We will be staying on site at either HRH or RPR. We are a family of 5 with three kids 8, 11, and 14. I was thinking about the Play 4 deal since we are staying 4 nights. This would give me, my husband, and the 8 year old free tickets. Then I would have to purchase 2 day/2park tickets for my daughters 11 and 14. I will also need 5 seaworld tickets. I will have to go the universal site to price this out for June and see which one comes out cheaper. I do have a AAA card for use with room only reservations. Let me know if you have any suggestions or advice for a new comer.

if you plan on booking a standard room, go for hrh as it is larger and you will have more room. there are two sinks in these rooms.

rph is a smaller room if you go standard.
they only have the one sink in their set up.

you can get free shuttle to seaworld from the on site hotels.

call and talk to universal vacations.
they can give you a breakdown of packages, play 4 and costs involved.
take notes and compare.

tickets online are cheaper .. 5 days for $99. you will not get this discount if you book the package. i called in december and found that out.

even though i know what will be cheapest, i always call and see if there are any specials/promos in the packages.
only did the package twice, all other times i book separate.

Question if I make the reservations on line can I make changes to it by calling universal? If I call in the reservation will I still get the same rate quote as I saw on line?

Thanks. :cheer2:

Yes you will get the same rate you saw on line for the room reservations. I had the kids stay play and eat free package and then saw that the room rate for RPR dropped to $199 per night. I called in and they changed my reservation to room only and then I went online and bought our tickets and saved $159. Our son will not eat free but if we want to buy that we can at the parks for $27 so we still have a savings of $132. They were very nice about changing the reservation. Plus with my Loews First card I may get an upgrade. Good luck.
