We have made ressies for CI-Calypso for our upcoming March trip. We had he Best Western @ Downtown Dis and haven't canceled it yet.

If you have stayed at CI-Calypso AND other Country Inns elsewhere, were they very similar? Has anyone stayed at a Country Inn that they did not like?

We stayed at a Country Inn in Irving, Texas and just LOVED the place. We're hoping Calypso Cay is just as nice inside. I have read a lot about the zero entry pool, mini golf, etc, but not much about the interior of the rooms.

Thanks for any info you can provide!!

we stayed at the country inn at calypso cay and loved it--the rooms were great--we had a king bed in the bedroom and nice bathrrom and living room with a pull out bed that the kids slept on --2 tvs , fridge and microwave--everything was new and in working order--my kids loved the pool-they hada bus service but we rented a car and found it pretty easy to get around--my father stayed in a standard room and he had 2 queen bed i think--maybe double with the fridge and microwave also--both rooms were great--no complaints here--even thinking of staying there for our next trip--any other questions, i'd be glad to help out--Ann

If I remember right, the lobby at Calypso Cay was set up like a living room with couches, maybe a fireplace?? They had cookies at the front desk you could help your self to and coffee and tea and hot chocolate. The exterior of the hotel looks pretty much like the exterior of the one near me. If you have liked them before, I think you will like this one.

It's pretty similar to other CI's. The rooms are very nice. We had a two queen bedded oom. Table & chairs, fridge, micro & coffee maker. Colorful and clean.

We stayed at Calypso Cay and another Country Inn and Suites in Kansas twice. The room set up are similar, the breakfast area is much bigger at Calypso Cay compared to the one we stayed at in Kansas.

We have never been unhappy with our stays at Country Inn and Suites.

Hi, we stayed at the CI&S Calypso Cay for 9 days in June of 2002. We loved it, at the time it was brand new, it was very homey and decorated like a country inn, including rocking chairs on a long verandah out back. My children loved the pool and spent a lot of time there. There were also two other pools we could use, one at the Amerisuites right across from Country Inn &Suites. The breakfast buffet was also very good. We are planning to stay again, in August of 2003.

Can anyone tell me how the nintendo works in the Kidsuite. Do you rent the games or is it the hourly charge kind? Also are the beds comfortable? I read somewhere that they didn't have regular mattresses.

Can't answer about the Nintendo since we never used it but the beds were fine. No bed is like your own at home, but I don't remember anything being weird about the matresses.

We stayed at the CI-Calypso Cay last Dec. I don't know what the pool was like because it was too cold to swim. Our room was nice and had a separate bedroom. The breakfast was fine but crowded. I think they had timeshare sales going on at the same time. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. We were there the weekend before Christmas so it was quite crowded and busy.
I don't remember any problems with the bed. It seemed fairly comfortable and was a regular mattress. I think the bed out in the living area may have been a sofa sleeper. We didn't use the nintendo because I think they charged for it. Debby

The beds in the kidsuite are a little different. They are small than a twin bed, but bigger than a toddler bed. I did not fit up there, so I don't know how comfortable they were, but my kids crashed hard every night. Weird thing is, they did not make them. They just layed a sheet on them and gave you a blanket like a sleeping bag. I was concerned whether the blanket had been washed. I thought to myself, if we stay here again I will bring their sleeping bags. You might want to request they bring you clean blankets for the bed. I always get skeeved at the thought of hotel bedspreads, so I usually throw mine under the bed or something.

I'm glad you told me about the bed covers. I may be crazy but things like that turn me off.

Does anybody have the shuttle schedule to Dis/Univ? Do they also have a shuttle to Sea World?

We will have a car, but we may also have grandparents and want to go separate places a day or two.

Hi MouseLover :wave2:

We will be staying at the Calypso CI for the first time in just under 1 mth. If it helps I would be more than happy to send you any shuttle info when we return just after Christmas. I haven't seen any info on a shuttle to Seaworld, it just says the Disney/Universal parks in our brochure.

HTH! :)

We stayed here last fall in a kidsuite. Thw nintendo is on demand and it is charged hourly onto your room bill. My kids loved this hotel. It was the best as far as afforability. At the time we paid $54 a night for the kidsuite. The breakfast was really good. The pool was really nice too. The hotel was clean and we recommend it!

I just checked out of the Country Inn at Calypso Cay this morning. I stayed there 7 nights. Two queen beds with a microwave and dorm size refrigerator. Three great pools and a hot tub. Basic breakfast. You do need your own car to get around. I think you can get shuttles to places but you cannot walk to any restaurants or shops from the hotel. I thought it was great for the price. I also appreciated the fact that they had night security guards walking the grounds. They have a small free mini golf course and a play yard area for kids as well.
