looking back...if you did not get WOC passes after this dinner would you still have been happy with the dinner? or would you have rather have dinner somewhere else?

trying to decide whether to get FP in AM for WOC or do the dinner option....hubby really likes his meals - don't want to have a mediocre dinner just to get the FP's if there are better dinner options out there in the parks

We did the WOC dinner at Ariel's Grotto a couple of weeks ago. As just the plain dinner goes it was a bit expensive for what we got. The opening appetizers were good. The enter choices were limited. I had the pasta with sausage which was a big serving. My partner had the chicken breast which was the same look as at Blue Bayou which we had the night before but had a bit of a different flavor. The dessert presentation is impressive looking and was fine as far as taste goes but not spectacular. I think it was just an okay deal.
Our opinion of the WOC and the passes was that it was not worth the $$$ and time it still took to put into it to get front railing positions.

We thought the AG WOC dinner was quite good. All seven of us liked it. The dinner on its own was worthwhile though of course a little pricey if you think of just the dinner. But even then not too bad by Disney standards. :)

thanks - I understand the $$$ includes the WOC FP "reward"...mostly wondering about the food....

I know I am opening up a ball of whacks asking if people like a meal or not - lots of opinions for sure....

anyone else?

We also really enjoyed the meal and the only part I thought was a bit outrageous is the fact my 10 year old had to buy the "adult" meal. As for us we have paid that price for "adult" meals before in the parks and considering you get appetizer and desert I didn't think it was that bad and quite enjoyed our meal. I have been to Ariels before for that exact same meal with just the princesses and NO fp and paid MORE. So I think that although the price is a little steep as far as theme park food goes that is about normal and the fp is a bonus. I was JUST thinking if I would be "mad" if for some reason I paid all that money for the meal and then for some reason the show was cancelled due to weather or techincal problems and all I got was the meal and I think I would probably still be ok with it considering like I said I have paid about that same price for meals around that same quality in the parks before ie blue bayou, Tratoria etc.

I'm having doubts about doing the WOC dinner package also. Four of my kids count as adults. Plus we are expected to pay for my parents and sister. This means 9 adults and 1 child total. That's pretty steep for fastpasses.

I hate all the wasted food. My husband and I could easily split most meals at Disney. My kids will fill up on the salad and totally waste their entree.

I guess my biggest concern is having to wait the same amount of time to get a rail position anyway. I understand we get the fastpasses for the section, but it really doesn't cut down on wait times.

My parents HATE the idea of having to stand for WOC. They are pretty fit 60 year olds, but they are worried about the wait.

They have been looking over the internet and have read some mixed reviews of the show.

Since the parks close at 8pm on Thursday I thought WOC would be a great event to lengthen our park enjoyment that day, but now I am worried that some will not enjoy the show. I'm the planner so I get my share of compliments and complaints about my tour plans and dinner ressies.

Time is running out! I have to decide soon. :confused3

My partner and I were torn about the WOC after our meal. The show is very beautiful but the projections on the water screens are not that spectacular. There are a couple good moments with the water screens. The surface of the water has some really great effects that should be seen but probably can not be seen or seen well when you are back in the crowd. Many of the spectacular things can be seen from inside the crowd.
From now on we will be watching from behind the show over on the Paradise Pier side where, hopefully, the wait is not to bad.

we have done ariels several times and we actually enjoy the food. My husband and I love the bread and my daughter and I love the appetizers. The entrees are pretty delicious in my opinion. Plus the desserts are awesome! My family consists of two adults, 1 child and 2 infants, so the cost wasn't that bad for us. I would pay the money again to guarantee WOC tix. We don't do Disneyland early in the morning, so we would never be able to get FP's. I think the meal is very worth the price and the food is good. :)

My family has eaten at both WCT and AG. We were not impressed with the WCT meals that we received at all, in fact we decided we didn't need to eat there ever again. BUT they've changed the menu since then so we would give it another shot to try the new menu.
We've eaten at AG many times, we have 2 DD's who are big Princess lovers so there are times we just walk up to see if we can get a table at AG. We love the menu there, the food has always been very good and most (if not all) gets devoured!! We don't like paying the higher price for DD10 but we would do it for her because DBF and I like the food there so much. DBF loves the Cioppino, gets it almost every time, DD14 loves the tri tip, gets it almost every time, personally I've had the tri tip, the agnolotti pasta, the chicken, they've all been excellent, we've never had a miss at AG! The appetizers are good, I love the salad that they serve and could eat just that if they'd let me, the salami, cheese, veggies, bread and butters are all good, the only thing off the appetizer platter that doesn't get finished is the jello, we aren't big jello eaters. DBF will usually eat one or two cubes but that's about it. The dessert platter is very good, I love the cheesecakes tarts with raspberries and no one else does (not big cheesecake eaters in my family) so I get them all, and we mostly split everything else, it's all fresh and very good.
Actually, here's a link to the menu for you. :) http://www.themouseforless.com/tripplanning/menus/dl/arielsgrotto.shtml
and I have had the chicken at both AG & BB, I thought the chicken was better at AG. :)

Why don't you get the picnic instead? The picnic fastpasses are the same as dinner option fastpasses, right?

No, they aren't. The dining option gets you "preferred viewing" while picnics get you the regular sections but without the morning wait in line.

We ate at the WCT in August as our WOC dinner package. I made the 5:00ish reservation and we requested a table by the parade route. We were able to watch the Pixar Parade while enjoying a glass of wine...that was great! I'd say it was worth it, but I don't know when/if we'll ever do it again. No matter what..you're going to wait. Do you want to wait twice...once in line for fast passes and to get into your section...or once to get a good spot in preferred seating. We figured it's a one time deal, so we went all out.

Oooooh... wow... I had no idea, thank god I asked! I was just about to buy the picnic deal thinking it was preferred viewing section! thank you so much!!!

thanks for the replies...we have to eat dinner somewhere (DH likes one sit down a day!) so I guess we will go for it.....
:goodvibes

My friend and I ate at WCT and I was pretty nervous about it since I'd read so many poor reviews. I thought it was great! We had an early reservation..I think it was 4:40, and we were seated immediately and attended to very well. The breads they brought out were delicious, the salad was great and the main course was very good. I had the beef and my friend had the chicken. The dessert was very good and just enough. I will definately go there again even without the WOC thing.
That said, we saw the crown begin to gather about 6:15 by the barriers and stood with everyone else until a little after 7:00. But, we were among the first in the dining package section and made it right up to the rail, where I then plopped down with my glass of wine and waited for the show. It was well worth it. I don't think I'd do it with kids..they'd be too antsy and I don't think the show is geared as much toward them as Fantasmic. Plus, it is still a long wait even after you get in the viewing area and it really is pretty critical to get a good view. When we go in January I'll spring for the Fantasmic dessert buffet for us all, since I think the assigned seats are totally worth it.

We just did the WOC dining package at AG on Sunday and loved the food and our spot for the show and we loved the show!

We had 6:40pm ressies, but didn't get seated until about 7. Our server was not the best, very slow and not very attentive, however we enjoyed the food! The bread is super yummy and we enjoyed the veggies and cheese appetizer. My cousins both had the chicken, which they really liked and I had the redfish, which was awesome considering it was coming from a Disney mass produced kitchen!

We got to the line up area about 8:15 just as they were letting people in. We went to the preferred dining area and after reading lots of info on the boards we stayed back and took spots on teh stairs so we would be elevated. They were the perfect spots. We could see everything without having to stand on tippy toes! I am only 5'3" so I was worried, but it was great. The area wasn't crowded and we sat on the steps until the show started, which was very nice!

Overall, we really enjoyed the whole experience and would do it again!
