Did you book a shore excursion for Costa Maya, or did you just play it by ear once you got off the ship? If we go to Costa Maya on the October 9th cruise, I have the opportunity to book a shore excursion with the same company I booked for Grand Cayman. Also, what were the arrival and departure times for Costa Maya. I understand that we may not go and if we do the times may change, but at least I would have an idea of what to expect.

Also, is there any excursion you would recommend? It will be me, DH and DD's (10 and 4).

Thanks :)

Costa Maya was wonderful.
It was an artificial Mexican village.
We chose to just spend the day there. The kids loved shopping for inexpensive stone chess sets and silver bangles. Shopping was more accessible than Cozumel and no more expensive for low end. High end selections (at Diamonds International, etc, was not up to snuff of the other ports, but they "opened" the stores just for us.
The pool was LOVELY and large. The adjacent beach has sharp rocks and signs said not for swimming although many did swim.
The Mexican dance show was surprisingly nice (Ballet Folklorico) with dances from Aztec human sacrifice ritual to modern dances for the various regions of Mexico. Beautiful costumes and talented dancers.
We had a great day there without any excursion.
I was told that the jungle ruin trip was not recommended for kids given the duration of the bus ride both ways. Also insect bite warnings on the navigator for the ruins.
Hope this helps.

Kahoutek22, were there any excusions that we could take our 4 year old on? Disney is pretty strict with the age limitations. Also, what time did you arrive and depart? I'm just wondering if doing an excursion would be worth the time.

Thanks for the information, I am obsessive when it comes to planning, so this is driving me crazy. :p
