I've never been to one but would love to go somewhere for the whole weekend and do nothing but scrap.

My mom asked me today if I was interested in going (I guess there's one in Seekonk MA in Jan?) I won't be able to make that one but she said she thinks there is another one a few months later (not sure of the location though)

Have you ever been to one? What are your thoughts? Do you actually get a lot of pages done or do you mostly socialize? LOL Are there products there for everyone to use? What do you pack to bring with you?

And is there a place on the internet where I can look up these events? Thanks!!!

Oh where in seekonk? Do you have a link? Or any other details?
Thanks.

Is that Right at Home Scrapbooking? I know they used to do one in Seekonk, but recently moved theirs to Franklin.

I've been to one in New Hampshire. It's at a ski resort during their off seasons - September and April. The one for April 2011 starts the 7th, I think. Here's a link - Purity Spring. It is AMAZING! They feed us sooooo well. My friends and I usually do the Thursday arrival. You can start cropping then and stay until 3:00 on Sunday.

I got about 40 pages done this past April. I worked without photos - it was a book for my new great niece. If I really sit down and figure out what I want to do ahead of time, I tend to get quite a bit done. In 2009, I think I got about 30 pages done in my daughter's girl scout album.

There are vendors on site, so if you run out of something (or just can't live without something new), you can get it. (They are listed on the link above).

I would go to some New England scrapbook store sites and see if they have any events coming up. I know A Time for Memories in Grafton, Mass has one coming up on the 22nd of this month. I believe they do one in the spring as well.

HTH!

I do several day crops at my friend's church - they open up the space and we all invade it for 7 hours... get lots done PLUS we are good at sharing our hardware or extra pieces of cardstock if needed.

I have been to a craft hideaway 2 years in a row. It's 48 hours of pure crafting bliss. A mother/daughter team bought a house and converted it into a B&B/craft space. We are waited on hand and foot, and also have the option of spa services too. All our meals are prepared onsite and they are really good at pampering their guests. I can usually finish 25-35 pages (I scrap slow...) over the 2 days. We get up when we want, sleep when we want. It's a bit out into the country so it is very quiet and peaceful. If you don't feel like crafting, they have a great front porch and chairs to relax in. It's also full of movies, TV, and radio. The first year, I went alone. This past summer, there was a group of great girls onsite too. We had a blast! There were also 2 other gals that came for a day crop - we had a full house. It was nice to be able to bounce ideas off of each other. I hope I can make it back again this year, but we'll see!

That sounds great!!! I'm hoping that I can get to one maybe in the spring time, just have to keep my eyes & ears open to see when it is.

I would LOVE to go to an all weekend one. I'm sure I can get quite a bit done.

Right now I go to an open crop for about 3 hrs every Wednesday morning. Started going about 3-4 weeks ago and I love it. So just imagining going all weekend sounds fantastic.

How do you actually pack for one of these things? Do you bring most of your own stuff or buy stuff at the event? Do you plan your pages ahead of time or just wing it when you get there?

I go to Lisa's crop (dis-ers!), on the Cape, in March. It's GREAT and I get TONS done, besides spending time with Dis-friends which makes it worth the long drive.

There's a crop at Jiminy Peak, (North western Mass) next weekend, and again in the spring.

I make page kits beforehand - mostly on a single topic - last time it was my recipe book - the year before I took three smaller projects. By taking a specific project, it limits the amount of supplies you need - ie if it's Disney, you won't need your christmas, baby or birthday stuff.

Everything goes in a medium rolling tote, my cm shoulder bag, and a box containing my Ott light, extension cord, and tool tote; a wire shelf, and a chair cushion.

I pack more scrap supplies than actual clothing... :rolleyes1

I fill our largest suitcase with stuff. I fill the bag with all of the little bags that I carry to my day crops.

I have a tool box that I keep my punches, crayons, pencils, pastels, glitter, stickers, rub-ons, xyron, etc. in.

I also have a bag that I keep my scrap paper in. I have a tacklebox that I keep my must-haves in. Paper snips, small punches, adhesive, sanding block, Cricut spatula - my everyday items.

To round it out, I started putting my 8x paper in a rubbermaid tub, and my 12x goes in a craft keeper clamshell box. My markers are carried separate, unless I toss them in a reusable shopping bag with other misc.

It's a lot to haul, but I've streamlined it greatly since I first started scrapping.

I've been to several. I know of ladies who get 100-200 pages done over a 2-3 day crop. They stay up all night. As for me - Last weekend, Fri-Sun, I got 6 pages does and part of a chipboard book.
I was sitting across from the most creative people and could not get my mojo going. I was so in awe of their work.

Check your local scrapbook stores, they usually have the hook-ups or if you know of any consultants from, Creative Memories, CTMH and others, that may hold them, whether for a day or a whole weekend.

For me, it's just fun to be around the others & socialize as much as it is to scrap.

I plan scrapbooking weekends in southwestern PA. They can be very productive. I average about 60 pages in a weekend but I know people who get a lot more done and also those that get a lot less done. People can crop as much or as little as they want and there are supplies available for purchase. All of us end up bringing a lot of stuff. I think on our last weekend we had 7 cricuts there.

We are supposed to get stuff done at these crops?! :goodvibes I go simply for the socialization. :) :grouphug:

I do several weekend crops per year. The Hartford, CT Expo crop in Feb, my Camp Wannacropit Crop at Cape Cod in the end of March, and the SDV at WDW in Aug. I pack specific projects and kits to work on. When we go down to FL I limit my supplies to my one CM weekender bag. Crops that I drive to I tend to bring more.

Definitely bring only what you are working on. No need to bring halloween embellishments if you are working on Christmas layouts.

At the end of November this will be my third year, and this time its at a Circle Square Ranch again.:cool1:Huge goody bags, games with prizes, all the scrapbooking and with a store for supplies, make and takes, snacks and drinks all day plus our three meals.I met a now friend at the first one then we meet back every year, then next Nov both of us plus our spouses are going on a scrapbooking cruise. Just a great scrapbooking time with alot of gabbing and laughing.:lovestruc:lovestruc from a friday afternoon until Sunday afternoon.

I am going to a ceative memories one next wed and get to stay tell sunday. My rep has one in Oct every year and then in the springtime, and then a summer one in june for her consultants. I enjoy the time away. We have one scrapbook store here and they have one spring and one fall. I didn't go to eather one of them this year becouse I finished my scrapbook room this summer. (It was an 16x16 attic crawl space with blown in insalation bare roof boards a small air vent ect.) We put in a big window outlets every two feet or so. Two 4 ft ceiling lights (DH is an electrition) Then I organized everything as it went in. I have 15 rubbermaid 12x12 3 drawer stacking organizers and 10 of the 8x8 ones and two tables. So I felt guilty spending the money to go, but DH said I should still go and enjoy myself. So I am going. Find a Creative memories rep and they should be able to connect you with anoughter rep that has them shop around. We have great food and its $120 for the whole time.

That would be cool, but I don't think I would get much done.lol

We also played clr (center, left, right) it has dice and green chips) Anyway you get 3 chips and we used dollars instead. It was alot of fun and said next time we werre going to play with premade stuff or stickers. Something scrapbooking instead of money.

I've done one, which I loved. I've wanted to do another, but it's hard for me to find ones on my weekends off.

I've actually been looking into this recently. Here are some that have New England locations:

http://www.croptopiagetaways.com/ (this is the one I've been to - it's gotten pricier since I did it but I really enjoyed it)

This might be the same one you were talking about:

Weekend crops are nice and when I get the majority of my cropping done. As a mother of 3, with lots of helpers it is sometimes hard to find the time or isolation in our home. I have a lot of friends in the area that crop. So we either go to someone's vacation home, go to a hotel with a smaller conference room to rent out, or B&B in the area sometimes host week swaps. I love it! I only pack comfy clothes and work all day. I usually come with power layouts of my pages ready to go, so I get more done and pack less. I average about 3 weekend crops a year and LOVE it!!!

Here is AZ we have a thing called Crop a Roo I got 20 pages done in one day. There was allot of vendors so that didn't help me trying to get work done.
But Ive decided to go to SDV this year with Dis'ers.

My friends and I did one back in June. It was held at a hotel here in town really close to our houses but we wanted to stay and just scrap. They had a room that would hold 6 and there were 5 of us.
The lady that hosted the event had die cuts and machines for people to use but between the 5 of us we pretty much had everything we needed.

I don't know about the east coast but here in Minnesota we have several locations to scrap for a weekend. I have gone to one a couple of times and while the socializing is fun, I have gotten more done at those weekends than I do in 3 Saturdays at home. The reason is that at these retreats I am on my own. I eat when hungry, sleep when tired with no "mom I am bored", "mom I am thirsty", "mom....". One other thing I enjoy when going to these places is to check out other people's work. I learn new techniques every time I go. I say go and enjoy yourself!!

Linda do you have pictures of the recipe book that you might want to share? I've been trying to figure out how to make some for xmas gifts but am having a scrap block!! TIA Michelle
