We go often, but I am one of those people who misses subtle things....so here is my question:

Where do you think Disney is at right now in terms of the balance between crowds/lines, hotel room availability, and number of attractions?

I figure the three are all intended to be in some sort of "balance." Are they?

I believe there going to transitioning into a balance right now at this moment its all off. The new my magic plus system will eventually lead to a good balance of things between lines, hotel availability and attractions. I think disney is trying to get the new system going before announcing such new attractions thats why they announced a different expansion being disney spring first because that won't focus on my magic plus. The last time I went I didn't have an issue with lines as much as I've had before so I think that is beginning to get under control. Hotel availability varies right now AoA sells out because its new and has great theming. Other resorts such as deluxes especially on the monorail loop sell out fast as well. The Poly is under construction right now with room updates and the GF is adding new DVC villas that will help at both resorts. It also depends on the season. Holiday is going to sell fast and be very packed. Late winter early spring will be good with moderate to low crowds. Spring break time amps up a bit and then dies down into early summer before the moderate to high crowds of the summer. So it all depends right now but when all of this new internal system work is finally done i think we see a balance in things especially when its all figured out by the guests.

This is a good question you pose. I think the balance between those three factors (crowds, hotel availability, and # of attractions) is pretty decent at the moment. My family goes almost every year, and we usually end up going either between may and june, or between july and august. I'm wondering if June and July has peak crowds because I have never found the crowds at the time that we go to be unbearable. Although I have noticed that Toy Story Midway Mania always seems to have a super long queue with a wait time of 2 hours or more. I haven't been on it in nearly 3 years.

I think the number of attractions is great, but Dsis and I usually only stay for a little over a week, so we never get enough time to REALLY see everything Disney has to offer. For me, Disney has enough to keep me busy and entertained for three weeks straight, but there are those that complain of the lack of variety and new things to do. I have noticed Disney doing refurbishments and repairs more often in the last few years, and maybe it means it's time for Disney to think about revamping some rides completely and adding on some new linchpin attractions--HOWEVER there are some classic rides that I believe should remain at the parks forever as they are part of the Disney magic and nostalgia (e.g. Carousel of Progress). If all of the suggested new projects that are floating around the rumor mill come to fruition, it could be very good for Disney in my opinion, and help to keep a better balance of those three factors.

We usually stay at moderate resorts, and never have trouble booking rooms.
