For those who fly with power wheelchairs and scooters

We always gate check DW's chair. She drives it up to the door, where we then transfer to the aslie chair and they bring it down. We are always the first one on and last one off. Only once the chair was not waiting for us and it showed up fairly quickly after that.

My ECV fit under the bus, No trouble at all ( I have a REVO)
I will say that the trip was not totally kind to my ECV.
I ended up with both front & back baskets smashed up & bent.
Though I saved about $150.00 in ECV rental fees. I will more than
likely bring my own again knowing that it may be damaged again.

The airline (American) was great, They called me in advance to make
all the arangements & I also got to board the plane first so I wouldn't
have to get mashed in the mass boarding with everyone...

Was that damage due to the airline or something else?

If it was due to the airline, then they would have been liable.

The best idea is to take all baskets and removeable items off of the ECV before handing it over to the airline and place it in a duffle bag and take it aboard the plane with you. I don't even leave my armrests on the scooter. I place all of this in a duffle bag and keep it with me. All equipment such as armrest and baskets and chargers would be included under the medical supply clause, since it is for the equipment that you are traveling with.

Totally agree. Baskets are too easy to damage when leaving them on.

My scooter has a removeable soft case on the back of the seatback for the charger. When I get to the door of the aircraft I will put that in the basket and remove the basket putting it in a small tote bag to carry it onto the plane.

It was the airline, but also Magical Express that smashed the baskets. I didn't even bring the arm rests with me because I didn't want them destroyed..
I put the charger in my carry on, But didn't carry the baskets onto the plane because it was just too much to carry by myself..
