My DS (6) has dairy, egg, and tree nut allergies. He also has Asperger's and because of the sensory issues has a hard time with many foods. He kind of gets stuck on a few foods. Plain noodles and rice have always worked for us. At a table service restaurant, do you think they would be able to make plain noodles or plain rice for us?
Thanks so much for any of you that have experience with this.

Does the shape of the noodles matter? Most TS locations have a kids meal of noodles with sauce. It's very easy to request the noodles without sauce but each restaurant will only carry limitted pasta shapes.

We've been able to get white rice at some restaurants but it does take a long time since it's not something that done ahead of time and you can't make water boil or rice cook any faster than what it takes.

ditto - we've had no trouble requesting plain pasta..it's just what arrives that's the question. And yes..I know from experience..my kids when they were little were very particular about what the pasta was.

Thanks guys for your answers about the noodles :). You must really get it because a few years ago the shapes of the noodles would have totally been an issue. We have "practiced" with lots of different shapes so now we are okay with most every shape of noodle. It's the little things in life.

There were a few place my son couldn't eat mac and cheese because of Egg, I don't know if it was in the noodle or in the sauce. He didn't eat plain pasta at that time, so I only know that mac and cheese was off limits, not sure about regular pasta.

DD11 has allergies to dairy, egg, tree nut and peanut allergies. We have had pretty good luck at TS restaurants getting her pasta that she can eat. If you let them know your allergies, they'll let you know what you can have. There are some pastas that are generally made with eggs (e.g., papparadelle, fettucini, elbow macaroni). We were have never eaten at a sit down restaurant where she could not get plain rice, pasta, or fries. She prefers pasta with olive oil. Not a problem at most places. The noodles at Teppan Edo had egg in them when we were there. DD11 was happy with rice. Udon noodles sometimes have egg in them. Most places also have a plain grilled meat option. My daughter choice, chicken, is usually available.

If you provide a list of some of your son's other favorites, I'm sure your fellow DISers will be able to provide you with a little more information about them.

BTW, thanks to all the other board members that provide allergy information in this forum. It seems to be the best way to keep up on changes at DWR between trips.
