For those who are tired of increase costs

I have seen a number of new posts on the boards of late of complaints about APs going up, food quality going down, toilet paper getting thinner. What I dont see is all these people who say they are selling for these reasons complaining about getting high resale prices. I dont see these same people saying Hey come and take our timeshare for pennies because I am tired of these costs.
I am not trying to inflame people, But I am tired of one sided complaints. If your that upset about things more then your room cost, give your timeshare away. There are lots that think its great and that is why direct sales keep selling and the resales have surged to SSR asking for close to $100 per. Crazy right, I should sell for that reason alone.
The World still has lots to offer my family and friends, stop being so down.

There is a ceiling out there. I personally think people are starting to revamp how they vacation. They may go down for a week but they might not go to the parks or restaurants as much. I have friends that do pretty well and they are saying it is getting to expensive. It's always an interesting conversation around What is "to much"? I will still go but I may only visit 2 parks for the visit. Plus battling the crowds is a lot of work.

Been a member for almost 13 years. Still very happy with my purchases. Just bought my 4th contract in january. It's just that the negatives are more vocal. The cool part is that you get to try new places and find that your trip is different depending on where you stay. We are to the point now where our trips are relaxed. We don't need to hurry to any attraction... if we miss some we can get them next time.

It's also hard to just post " yey DVC " all the time. Kind of boring. lol.

Though I'm not happy with the price increases, I have not intention of selling my DVC points anytime soon. I always say that I'll stop going to Disney World when I stop having fun, and that hasn't happened yet. That being said, I do think I may start spending less on dining (i.e. less sit down meals, and maybe breakfast in the room).

We renewed our AP's today. I have 3 5 day or more trips to WDW planned so far in 2016, and plan to book at least 2 more. I am unsure if I will book another NYE trip. I have a trip to Vero and one to HHI for next year. We are still very happy with our DVC purchase. Last month we went to Aulani for a
6 night trip, that was an awesome trip and made our DVC points even more valuable to us.

We have been coming since the 80s, DVC since the late 90s and we still love every visit. Sure things have changed but that is not exclusive to Disney nor or price increases.

If we don't enjoy it anymore, I won't come on here and complain and moan about the good old days I will simply sell and move on.

OK.. maybe it's not so boring..... leaving this am for 3 nights food and wine trip. Definitely has changed over the years, but still a great trip. We always find new ways to enjoy different aspects. I wonder if the trips remained the same over the years if we wouldn't be bored with the same old. It also seems that the heavy repeat exposure can lead to the feeling of diminished returns.

So I always think-- when the prices increase-- hopefully the crowds will thin out. I know it is a personal economy thing, and some people are already at their limits, but the DVC thing makes us a little buffered from the costs.

I think people are negative be they feel entitled to something that they don't deserve. They compare it to back in the 90s when it started and members got free passes and what not disney was trying something new and was not sure if it was going to work so the juiced the pot. Well now it works and works well so they don't need to give out so many perks. It's like hearing my parents when we went to a movie it was .25 cents god now for the iMax Star Wars tickets I bought it was 18.75! Gosh every single year until the Disney stops functioning they will increase the price. I guess it comes down to if you still like it as much any everyone hates spending money on things they don't like. I know the state of my disney Union is very strong I don't mind the price increases hope it keeps the crowds down!!!!!

Yeah-- just think if they doubled all the prices across the boards tomorrow-- (or even just increased 50%) how nice it would be in our locked in room rates and 50% less people..... Then it would be back to the parks of the "good old days".

Also I try to remember that DVC is a very, very large village that I am just a very small part of. That some decisions made by DVC, others will love and some won't. Also I am very agreeable to change. The new website is fine with me. The end product is still the same, I can still book my vacations online. How I do that or how the website looks does not matter to me.

I would have loved ticket prices to stay the same but it does not freak me out that they didn't. All entertainment is expensive. So maybe we give up a fine dining meal or not.

I am just thrilled that DVC makes it affordable for me to book a 2 bedroom villa every trip.

owned a small DVC contract for 8 years. we bought to book @ 10 points/night for sun-fri in a studio for summer for 50 points. 2 years later, DVC reallocated points and it then cost us 14 points/night. Bummed then, but we banked/borrowed and made it work. In Jan, bought 160 DVC Points b/c we love staying at DVC so much. We got AP 1X and it was great--they overlapped 2 spring breaks and we took a 10 day trip in the summer. Was planning on AP next year to use at Easter. So, I am bummed about the gold black out dates--but we will just buy a base ticket, or maybe go to Univ. instead. I have priced out other actvie vacations, esp. at peak season such as Christmas and DVC/WDW is still the best value for our family. Has anyone priced out a show to take the family to comparable to Lion King, Nemo or Beauty and the Beast? About $100+ per ticket. Yes, a touring Broadway show would be 2.5 hrs long--but my teens wouldn't want to sit thru that, so a 40 minute version is great. Plus, everyone in teens can stay busy and go into parks via buses themselves, DH and I can relax at the resort, ride bikes, etc. and only go into the parks a couple days. DH summed it up, "If I am in Orlando, I only want to be at DVC, and then I really want to stay at AKV, b/c I always feel like I am at a special place." I have no issues with toliet paper, food (I actually find the quick services reasonable, compared to other theme parks/resorts), and service has always been fine. So (still) a happy camper here.

What cost increases?

My POLY and GF nights just DROPPED from $500 a night to $100 a night (cost of dues) and in the newly remodeled sections.

We bought DVC in 1999 and still love it!!

My kids are older now (3 just got married this past year!) and youngest is in college. We used points to give one DS and his new wife a honeymoon.

One reason we originally bought was because we are a family of 6 and always needed two rooms anywhere we went. Going to the local beach for a week would have been about $3,000 back then and we found that, at WDW, we were all happy.

For all the reasons we bought into DVC (luxury accommodations to fit us, flexibility, forced vacation, options to trade out), they are still our reasons for keeping. And we still love Disney! I can't wait to see what will be built in the next 5 years!

We did not buy because the ticket prices were "reasonable" (imo they were always pricey). We did not buy for the restaurants/food (I have had good and bad). We did not buy for the toilet paper (I frequently take my own on any vacation ). There are definitely things that have changed that I am not happy with in the parks, but they have nothing to do with owning DVC. It is still a great place to vacation, even if we just stay at the resort.

It's somewhere we can go to get away and it makes us happy!

I could not agree more. Sure, there are issues....and sometimes, things don't end up how we hope/plan. However, very *VERY* few things beat time with my family at WDW. In fact, as I sit here at my desk in my office at WORK , I am dreaming of more meaningful things. Like the red velvet cupcake the Beach Club Marketplace. Or the sounds of the door closing at the Haunted Mansion. Or the smell of the pine trees on SOARIN.

Sigh....time to get back to work.

I would never even consider selling my DVC points.

Especially when the asset is rising in value, and you can rent the points for a 100% to 200% annual return on top of that.
