for those waiting for passports, how long has it taken you to receive it?

I went into the Ottawa passport office on January 9, and our passports arrived via registered mail today. Not bad at all.....

There does not appear to be any consistancy in the passport office. We applied the end of October for our grandsons. We are supposed to leave on the 29 January 2007. Still no passports after 3 and a half months. We are now left with trying to get emergency processing in Calgary if we can get all the boys documents replaced as the central passport office in Quebec has misplaced (lost) their documents. Lesson --- apply real early, and make sure you have back up documents. Wish me luck.

So sorry to hear that you grandsons' passports are taking so long, Harvestdj - good luck with the emergency processing and I hope everything works out all right. Sending some pixie dust your way...

I applied through the post office last week. I was told "2 months and no guarantee" . I held back my daughter's application because she was born in the US and I didn't want to hand over her Canadian Citizenship. When I did this, I knew we would have to drive.:guilty: We are leaving in March.

When I got home, I got online and ordered another birth certificate for myself (from NS) and my other daughter (Ont) just in case our passports didn't arrive in time. My daughter's took 3 days.

I tell ya, all these fees-the new birth certificates ($26.00), the fees for post office ($15.00), and the passports themselves, are eating into our Disney budget :guilty:

Anyone know what the wait times are like in the offices? Thanks Kathy

Last Friday in the Halifax, Nova Scotia office it was a 2 and a half to 3 hour wait, unless you did the online application then theres a shorter line. However if your there before 8 in morning and get a number you can be out by 10 thats what we did, numbers are given out starting at 8 in the food court lower level.

Just got a call from the passport office in Calgary. They found all our documents, our grandson passports will be ready for pickup on Tuesday.
Thanks MouseGirl for the pixie dust. There is a god and her name is Tinkerbell.
If your in WDW Jan 29 to 12 Feb, look for the old guy in the Oilers hat, dragging a bunch of grandkids, and a GREAT BIG GRIN, that will be me.

I am glad it worked out for you. The big question is? Are you an Oilers fan but live in Calgary?

Thanks Drag n' Fly. I am a transplanted Edmontonian living in Drumheller. I am very discreet about my Oiler preference when shopping in Calgary. We have been to Disneyland many times but this is our first trip to Disney World and I am afraid that Disney wins out over the Oilers or the Flames.

Yay - I'm really glad to hear things worked out for you and your family, Harvestdj! Hope you have a great trip - we'll miss you by about a month - we're arriving at WDW on March 3 (staying until March 17). Can't wait...
