Our flights for Dec. actually went up the week after I booked them. That is why I like AA. You can get the credit if the price goes down and it ensures me that we get the flight we want.

Not sure if you get a credit on a flight if you are using a credit to pay for it but I say it is worth a phone call and let us know too!
