I have a question for fellow Washingtonians that fly out of SEA. What's the cheapest airfare you've seen and how far out do you usually book? We're going in October and Alaska has fares at $99 each way. I think that's pretty good but I think I saw it a little cheaper last year. Have you seen it go below that on sale? BTW, I'm only interested in direct flights so Southwest won't work. Thanks!

I haven't looked at their prices, but Jet Blue also has a Seattle to LA area flight now.

But we usually use SW so I don't know how low all those prices go.

I saw tickets for $169 from SEA to SNA on Alaska!!! That is an awesome price. $99 each way plus tax, I think you could do better (esp since it is in Oct). My family is planning on going Disneyland in Aug and I haven't bought tickets yet. For most flights you should purchase your tickets at least 14day in advance.

I paid 159.00 one way for sept's trip thru Alaska for SEA to SNA. ouch:headache: And I checked todays price is 165.00 one way. Mom needed to use miles and she's paying for room at GCH and park hopper tickets for ME, DH and DD. So Alaska it was. I think 99.00 is to good to gamble on. With the fuel cost going up and all the airlines going under. This year is not going to be the same as last year. Fuel is up to high and getting higher. Just my thoughts.

I just booked that AK fair for 99 each way today, with tax it's 214.50 RT into LBA. I think that's pretty dang good for a nonstop. We're also in October.

I just bout tickets today from Sea for Aug. when I first looked a couple weeks ago each way was 99 today I had to pay 185 down and 99 back into Long Beach I had a companion fare so it worked out ok. I personally like Long beach better than SNA straight shot down one road to freeway!!!

I still have to hold out for a couple of months on airfare...no money right now! :headache:

I'll find a rate I can live with..eventually, lol. I've budgeted $225 pp airfare so I have a little wiggle room right now, as long as fuel prices don't take another huge jump. :scared1:

$99 each way is a decent fare to SoCal. It's not necessarily a screaming deal, but you're probably not going to get too much lower than that. You might try some of the other airports down there (LAX, SNA, ONT, etc) and see how the fares compare.

Imjen – You got the same prices we did when we flew from SeaTac to SNA back around Thanksgiving. I booked several months in advance, and regularly kept an eye on how the fare changed to load up on information should we need it in the future. There may be a slight chance that you could do a bit better, but there it a big chance that you could do much worse. Good choice to book now.

I think that is a great price. I booked from Portland to LA last week for Dec. and paid $149 each way......that is the most we have ever paid. At least Alaska gives you a credit should the price go down, which I monitor closely.

Just a helpful hint....go to airfarewatchdog.com and you can plug in your departing airport and it will send you daily emails with airfares from all of the airlines. I have found this very useful because you don't have to search everyday yourself. I live in Spokane and I get my emails everyday and it always includes fares to LAX, SNA, ONT, and other area airports in SoCal. It gives you the fare, the airline, and if there are restrictions. :thumbsup2

How do you get a credit from them if it goes down? That sounds awesome.

I got the $99 one-way deal in Feb. and for our upcoming trip this month. I think it's a pretty good fare for non-stop and not having to go through LAX.

I did have to pay more on the way back in Feb., because the cheapest seats on the non-stop, non-redeye flights were already taken; I think I booked only 2 or 3 weeks ahead, though.

I got my tickets for $162 round trip to LAX on alaska. I use farecast.com and it tells you when you should buy and when you should wait. It got me a pretty good deal.

If you see that airfare has gone down, you call AA directly and give them your confirmation number and ask for a credit. They then send you an email with a code which denotes your credit and you have a year to apply it to a new airfare. We have done this several times.

Thank you SO much godalejunior. Your post reminded that they issued me a credit last August when they changed the flight times of a flight I had booked & the fare had also gone down as well. I completely forgot about that. I went ahead and booked at the $99 each way rate over the phone & because of the credits I had I saved over $200! So it was about $864 total for 5 people. Wahoo! I wonder if the price goes down if I can get a credit even though I used credits for the trip. Any idea?

Thanks so much everyone for your great tips!! I'm sure I will use them again. :goodvibes

SunBunny23, That is a great price! When are you going? We aren't going until December and I haven't seen any good deals for then yet. It would be great to get a good rate like you did. :)

I'm going next week but we booked just 2 months in advance. You have a lot of time, I would just keep your eye on the prices.

Have great trip! We were supposed to go this past December.......We had our reservations, etc. but ended up having to postpone until this December, so it just can't get here fast enough for me. :)
