I know motion sickness comes in many forms, so, for context:
I do not have vertigo. I have always been one to get carsick as a passenger, which I can mitigate by having cold air blow on me and by not looking around too much. The Simpsons ride at Universal was an absolute nightmare (rode once many years ago and never will again) and I DO NOT ride Star Tours. I have issues with motion (side-to-side and backwards) and with simulation via screens. My symptoms are usually a mild headache, mild nausea and just not feeling well in general.
ETA small spaces are also an issue for me. I have never tried Mission Space (and never will).
Bonine = tablets that can be taken one or two at a time and are supposed to last 24 hours, I only take one tablet (ETA as DisneyStarWisher points out, Bonine is the brand-name. Meclizine is the active ingredient.)
Ginger = Ginger Rescue Chewable Tablets (fair warning, in my opinion the “mighty mango” ones do not taste like mango, just ginger). I hold two between my teeth so I can control how fast they dissolve.
MMRR- I had not taken Bonine that morning, but rode with ginger. There was actually only one “scene” that made me feel a little sick, but only briefly.
FOP- this was my second time, so I knew what to expect. I took Bonine about an hour before hand and rode with ginger. During the ride I often focus on “guide” banshee flying in front of me when looking around starts to make me feel sick. This is a ride that I get off of with some residual ill feeling, but it starts to fade about the time we are done window shopping in the end-of-ride store and, frankly, is worth it.
(ETA was reminded reading another post...air is blown on you to go along with the simulated motion, that helps tremendously )
As simulation technology improves, it seems to affect me less. I am glad I took Bonine (a while before) and ginger (during) for ROTR and MFSR, but any momentary bad feelings were gone as quickly as they came on. I happily did MFSR a second time via single rider our next HS day. (ETA I was engineer on MFSR)
Remy was a little more impactful (I used ginger, I can’t remember if I managed to take Bonine that day) because of the nature of the movement of the cars vs the screen…. that took some of the fun out of it for me.
I got through Soarin’ pretty well (twice) with a combination of ginger and closing my eyes occasionally. The first time I had taken Bonine much earlier in the day. I don't think I had had any Bonine the day of our second time.
