can you walk me thru the check-in process? I can check in on line 24 hrs prior like on swa, and get my boarding passes. I can also check my bag at that time? How do I get the baggage tag & where in Bradley do I drop the bag? Thanks!!!

Pooch

Just go to the Southwest counter and use the self service kiosk to access your reservation and select check baggage. The rep will ticket your bag and then you bring it over to the baggage security person. It's very simple and fast! Have a nice trip!

 The OP is flying Delta.

You can check in 24 hours before your flight, pay for your checked baggage, and print your boarding passes. Delta is also going to start charging an extra $5 per bag if you pay at the airport so it is beneficial to pay in advance online.

At the airport use a kiosk to reprint your boarding passes and the baggage tags will print out behind the counter. An agent will tag your bags and you're off.

I can print the boarding passes when I check in on-line can't I? Where will the baggage tags be at that point, or do I have to wait & print passes at the airport? I'm a little confused because I thought the idea of on-line check-in let you bypass the counter entirely.:confused3:confused3

Yes, you will be able to print your boarding passes from home. However you will still have to use the kiosk to re-check in to get the system to print the bag tags. At some airports Delta will have a counter labeled "Baggage Drop Off" for people who are checked in and just need to drop off bags.

If you were not checking bags you could go straight to security with the boarding pass you printed at home.

Do the Disney Resort hotels have computer centers for the general public so that on the return trip, I can check in on line and pay the package fees?
I will not be travelling with a laptop.

Thanks for any responses.:cool1:

Disney will leave you information under the door the day before you are to check out that will tell you how to pay for your luggage fees ahead of time. You will have to call BAGS and pay by credit card. If your hotel has the airline check-in desk you can take your bags to that counter on check out day and they will check-in your bags (brings verification number from BAGS) and they can check your IDs and print your boarding passes. We do this in the a.m. and then head to a park knowing we just have to get to the airport and go through security. If there is no airline desk the front desk should be able to print your boarding passes for you.

We fly Delta out of BDL and your question was mine in Jan! I did check us in and print our boarding passes at home. The main reason I checked in on line was because I could see the flight was just about full and I wanted to make sure we would be getting on our chosen flight. We were grandfathered in so we didn't need to pay any baggage fees.

At BDL for Delta: Go to the Delta check in area there will be counter agents as well as the kiosks. We stood in a line for a kiosk there was no real signage to tell us what to do. We decided to try the kiosk anyway!

A nice customer who had done this before told us we needed to check in at the kiosk showing the machine the bar code from our boarding passes or swipe the credit card we bought our tickets with to call up the reservation.

There was one Delta employee working about 5 kiosks (not enough when there is a crowd!) so once your info. comes up on the kiosk you need to wait for the Delta employee to check your ID and check the baggage weight then print off the bag tags to MCO. Once this is done they point to an area near the kiosks to take the bags to to leave them with security. You can then head to the "people" security process.

Personally I thought this process would be much less complicated then this ( don't know why just thought it would be!) To be fair to Delta it was a snowy Friday morning around 5am and it was very crowded perhaps even more then normal due to people getting to the airport early to try to make their flights.

Going to the counter or cheking in at the skycap outside would also be equal options so look for which ever has the shorter lines because if you are checking in luggage at BDL you need to follow the same steps no matter which option you choose.

Obviously flying with just a carry-on makes checking in at home a great thing because then you just head to the "people" security line but for me I have never gotten away with just a carry-on!

Please let me know if you have any questions on my long winded explaination!

Peace.
Colleen

Thank you Colleen,

You're right, I thought it would be less involved than that but I guess it is what it is!!! Got a fabulous fare - $69!!! Just wanted to let you know I too an a Uconn B-ball fan. I have the 1999 championship license plate on my car - UCONN 3!!!!:cool1::cool1:

Hey Pooch - I'm right around the corner from you in East Granby!

Another poster mentioned that Delta is adding a $5 surcharge per bag when you check them at the counter or skycap outsite. This is for tickets purchased after July 16, 2009 and for travel after August 4, 2009. If you pay for your bags online when you check in, you won't get that additional $5 fee.

Have a great trip - and dang, $69 each way on Delta? When are you going? That is a GREAT rate! I was happy with $220 round trip in December...

LOL...I'm right around the corner from both of you in New Hartford (out by Canton).

We've flown this route a few times, and I've always found it easier to check the baggage at the skycap, as long as you already have your boarding passes. They seem to be quicker than the baggage agents inside, and there's usually at least 2 of them.

our own little corner of DIS fans right here in CT. :)

I can't wait for our trip....I keep checking our flights on Delta since we had an issue where they changed our flights (they were NWA flights) from direct to CONNECTING and didn't notify us...I happened to go in to see if I could do seat assignments (with NWA I couldn't do it at time I purhcased) and saw the new flights. That got me on the phone with them IMMEDIATELY and told them it was unacceptable and to put us back on the direct flights.

They still had the exact same time flights as we purchaed, but were now Delta flights...luckily (for them), they changed us with no issues. :thumbsup2

So, now I keep checking every ffewe weeks to be sure nothing else changes...so far the time has changed twice and we weren't notified either. Original departure was at 6:50 AM, then moved to 7:10 and now 7:15. As long as it doesn't change to an afternoon flight, I'll be okay.

but the flight back is on SWA @ $79 (but no baggage fees). This is a short trip for us, only 4n/5d in late Sept for Free DDP, F & WF & my b-day, so we're only checking 1 bag on the way down. We both carry an over-sized, beachbag type bag with pj's & toiletries essentials. We'll check a 26" rolling duffle and either carry another small overnighter or shove it into the rolling duffle for the flight back when we'll have souveniers to pack but no baggage fees. And, since we're @ Pop, we can check our bags through at the resort!!! Best of both worlds (Disney World of course).

Pilferk,

If I check the bag & pay the fee on line, can I still use the curbside check in? We bought the tickets prior to 7/16 so no extra fee & of course I'll tip the skycap. And I spent a lot of time in the New Hartford - Winsted area doing theater in my mis-spent youth!!

I'm a pro at SWA but Delta is new animal to me.

We are flying BDL to MCO on Delta in 3 weeks. I am outside of Hartford in Wethersfield! Anyway, we have always checked in from the curb. They sky cap prints out our boarding passes and away we go right to security. This is the first time that we wil be flying since Delta imposed the new fee for bags checked.

We have checked in on-line with Delta, and then checked our baggage at the skycap, in the past. The caveat is: That was before baggage fees.

I HAVE done it (paid the fee and checked with the skycap) with US Air, though. I'd be shocked if that wasn't the case with Delta, too. Jeesh, now you got me wondering. I think I'll drop a line to Delta CS and ask...

I grew up in Winsted, actually. Gilbert, class of '92. My wife is from Colebrook and went to the Region #7 High School...so we've both spent a good chunk of our lives in the area.

I worked up in Granby for awhile back in the late 90's, at Imperial Nurseries as an IT guy. And my whole father's side of the family grew up on East Street in East Granby.

We ran into the same thing. They changed us to NWA flights, THEN rerouted us a couple months later to BAD connecting itinerary. We called and got back on Delta. Seems the NWA auto-rebooking software has some "issues" with rebooking Delta itineraries!

Now, our delta flight has moved to 8:30 AM (from 6:50). We're OK with that...hopefully no more changes by mid-September!

I have CORNS older than that!!!! Aquinas (New Britain) Class of 73!!!!

I've performed on both the Regional #7 and the Gilbert stages so know those schools well.

Well I am right in the middle of you two as Class of 86 from Suffield. :thumbsup2

Okay, what were you performing on stage, Pooch? I also performed in high school, college and pre-kids...doing musicals and NCCC chorus....

I think this is the most CT people I've found on the boards yet!

NCCC? Northwest CT Community College? Did Godspell (Gilmer) there in 1979. Adelaide in Guys & Dolls, Hot Lips in MASH, Frenchie in Grease, Flora in No No Nanette, the Housekeeper in Secret Garden, chorus on a bunch of stuff. I've been singing with the Hartford Choral for 10 yrs now and my DD (24) has a degree in Musical Theater from Rhode Island College. Works at Hartford Stage.

NCCC = North Central Connecticut Conference (I think) it was the division for our high school.

I love that your DD is also involved with music and theatre, and how cool to have a job with the Hartford stage!

I am more of a dancer, and danced (after college) in Me and My Girl, Mame, Guys and Dolls, Anything Goes, Carousel, Mysery of Edwin Drood, Pirates of Penzanze, Hello Dolly and Oklahoma. Haven't done any shows since I was pregant with my twins...I was doing shows with Manchester Musical Players and Simsbury Theatre Guild.

Whenever I see a Disney show, I long to be up on stage, even if I'm just a dancing fork in Beauty and the Beast!
