For those of you who used to do concierge before DVC, do you miss it?

We just came back from our first concierge stay at Poly and we absolutely loved it. We booked cash, not using points.

We love Poly, never think I would, used to think it was kind of dark (too much vegetation) and old until we finally stayed there this time.

We loved the convenience of having access to the food and drinks, the services, the pool, its kids activities (including free arcade games in several afternoons while we were there), and its great location being a monorail resort and within walking distance to TTC.

Anyone else miss the concierge after you became DVC members?

:D I just finished reading one of your posts on the resort board. I never experienced concierge before becoming a DVC member but we just came back from Yacht Club concierge over Labor Day weekend and Oh MY! I never felt so spoiled in my whole entire life! We had a room looking directly out on our beloved Boardwalk and all the pretty lights over there. It could not have been more magical and we are in big trouble now, because I can't imagine NOT doing that again.:p We absolutely loved it! We didn't know what we were missing but now that we know, I think we will take long weekends there whenever we can sneak away!

Truth be told, yes, we do miss it.

It's just nice to have the convenience and extras. We have enjoyed our concierge stays.

This is just our opinion.

We fully intend on using some of our pts for concierge stays in the future.

It has nothing to do with being spoiled or greedy. It's just something some people enjoy.

I miss it from time to time but just couldn't afford it any more after our fourth child was born. The last time we stayed at the Poly we had to have two rooms because there were 6 of us. That room bill alone makes me know that DVC was the right thing for our family to do. We still do the concierge thing from time to time when we visit Universal studios on a Friday and Saturday night. That gives us our fix.

hulagirl,

how was the food offering at YC concierge? We loved the food at Poly. Chef Dick was great and Monday night was Sushi night!!!

I originally booked YC concierge for 3 rooms for my family over Xmas/New Year. However, I was not sure if the food would be as good as Poly, so I changed the ressie to Poly. At Poly, the food/dessert was so plentiful that they kept replenishing them. You have to be a really big eater if you still need dinner afterwards.

What did they offer at dinner time at YC while you were there? Thanks

We've enjoyed similar services at every DVC resort.

We've always loved the convenience of having access to the food and drinks- right in our room, the services, the themed pool, great kids activities and lots more, all for a fraction of the expense of Concierge at other resorts. DVC provides it all! :smooth:

We have stayed in Concierge rooms at the Poly, Contemporary and most recently, 3 weeks ago, at the Grand Floridian. While all were elegant and luxurious and we did feel like royalty, we have the same general feeling while staying at any of the DVC resorts- sure we have to fix the drinks and buy the food ourselves, but the feeling is still the same.

Enjoy the breakfast at the Member's Update (8:00am at OKW on Tuesdays and at BWV on Thursdays), enjoy the ocean breeze at VB from your balcony, enjoy "A Private Affair" at HH. All of these programs and sensations come with our DVC ownership- some without any extra expense.

I don't miss Concierge at all!

Enjoy!

what is everyone referring to as concierge? is this something that can be done with DVC POINTS, or only cash??

We always stayed at the Poly concierge and absolutely loved it.
It is still my favorite place, I visit everytime we go. But, for us the accomadations in the DVC are much more appealing to us. We gave up the Poly (knowing we can always use points to stay there) for a more "home" type atmosphere and have never regretted it. We almost always stay at our home resort OKW and the laid back feeling and units are just what we need.

We have been members since 1994 and have added on many times for a total of 600 points!!!!!!!!!

I still do both, love doing both and would not change a thing. The majority of my days are spent at a DVC resort but I also stay at the other WDW resorts. I love staying at DVC resorts but I also love staying at the other wonderful non DVC WDW resorts very, very much. I really enjoy the whole deluxe resort atmosphere and being pampered on vacation and WDW has some amazing resorts for this. I book some Fri & Sat nights at other resorts which gives me a couple days to enjoy YC, Poly etc., I am able to save on the very high weekend pts. and then settle in and relax at a DVC resort. In May, we stayed at Poly, BWV, and finished up the trip at YC, it was heavenly. My next trip is business & pleasure and my Nov trip is only 8 days so less time/chance to be hopping all over the place.

No we don't miss it. We are pro's now and know to stop and get our own liquor etc and bring it with us.

I miss the robes though from Beach club!

Disney hooked us on concierge after a free ugrade from Dixie landings to Beach Club. After paying that twice during the 25th anniversy DVC was a bargain.

KANSAS,
The Deluxe WDW resorts (GF, Poly, Cont.,AKL, Y&B Club, BW, etc.) have a concierge level you can book on points. These points are part of the Disney Collection and once you book, become "reservation points". If at some point you have to cancel, those points can no longer be used at any DVC resort. They retain their UY and can be used at most hotels in Disney and Concierge collection or for a cruise.

We were very spoiled when we stayed concierge in one of the garden suites at BWI. However, this stay is the reason WHY I joined DVC--so that we can always enjoy deluxe accomodations. I'm not sure that the concierge level service is as much something I really want as the actual accomodations. DVC is a BARGAIN compared to the price of concierge service.

Who knows, though. Maybe one day we'll stay concierge again--points or cash, we'll see.

For now, I am perfectly content with my new purchase and very excited that we will always be enjoying luxury accomodations--concierge or not!
