I understand how ME works, I am curious how long it has taken those of you who have used ME, for your luggage to arrive at your resort.
I don't want to be waiting around for our luggage. Yes I know that sometimes the room isnt ready and bell services holds the luggage. Yes I pack necessities in a carry on. But either way if I am in the room, I want the luggage to be there too.
What is the max time ME says your luggage will be to your room by?
If you choose to take your luggage with you on the bus to your resort-how does this work?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

You don't put the ME tags on your luggage. Then you go retrieve the luggage from the baggage carousel and take it with you to DME desk. You receive your paperwork to ride the bus and you take the luggage and you to the bus. The bus driver will load your luggage into the bottom of the bus. When you get to the resort you need to retrieve your luggage and check in.

For a thorough discussion about claiming your own luggage and taking in on the motor coach with you, see "ME and claiming own luggage" at http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=891115

Many of us think the most "magical" part of Magical Express is being able to check your luggage form your home airport all the way to your resort room.

The luggage will arrive in your room after you do -- it could be a few minutes; it could be a few hours. There is no reason to wait in the room for your luggage to arrive. Disney even pays for the inbound bell service gratuity.

I guess I just don't like the chance of my luggage getting to my room a few hours after I do. Once we have our room, we like to get settled and unpack. It's just the way we are when we travel and especially when we go to WDW. Yes if our room is not ready when we checkin we will head out to do something else and come back in a few hours. I think I would just prefer to know that my luggage is either waiting in Bell services for when my room is ready, or in the room when we get our room.
Thanks for info. I just wanted to make sure there is no problem if we choose to take our own luggage on with us.
Thanks!

I am very curious about the luggage delivery times also, as we are tent camping at Ft. Wilderness and our "room" won't be there until we get our luggage. We are scheduled to arrive in Orlando a little before 4pm, and I'm really hoping I'm not going to be setting up tents in the dark.

My question is about leaving! How early do you leave the resort? Also, is it possible to leave from another resort? I'd like to do breakfast at the poly on the day we leave....

This is one of the few cases in which getting your own luggage makes sense.
Your flight may be delayed and it could still take a few hours for your luggage to make it to FW. You really want your "luggage", at least your tent the minute you make it to FW.

You'll have some serious problems if for some reason the airline misdirects your luggage. You need to know immediately if your tent didn't make it to MCO.

Maybe I'll grab the tent off the baggage claim and let the rest go through DME.

Just be sure you don't put the yellow tags on anything you are going to collect yourself. When they take the yellow tagged bags off the plane, they go directly to the DME truck...never make it to baggage claim area.

I also want my Luggage as soon as I get off the plane, so I am doing Carry-On. ;) So, I will have to wheel my small 16 inch bag all the way to the ME bus. :confused3 At least it will be WITH me! ;)

This can't be completely true. At least not for those of us who have to clear customs in MCO. We HAVE to pick up our luggage for customs and then we put it on another conveyor belt and it starts what would be the journey to the Main Terminal/Baggage Claim. So I am thinking that our Yellow tagged bags are pulled when they reach the Main Terminal or off that conveyor belt...not right off the plane.

But what do I care as long as I don't have to lug it around with me and it gets to my room by Magic.

Three cheers, :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: , for Magical Express
