For those of you who scoff at "full moon phenomena"...

their teachers insisted that you could tell the difference in the children's behavior during a full moon

I teach junior high, and I am a firm believer!

but I dont know exactly HOW people get affected

It is speculated that there is a gravitational effect on the organs and glands which control our moods and behavior.

When I taught elementary school, I never noticed any difference in the behavior of the children in my classroom. On the other hand, my older sister taught junior high & swore the kids were "off the wall" during full moon - and also when a weather front went through. (She has no children of her own - maybe she just didn't know how weird teenagers can be??? ;))

When DS was younger he was diagnosed as having ADD - and during diagnosis we learned DH also had it. For a time we home schooled DS & I began to believe that there is something to "full moon" behavior - at least for ADD/ADHD. Something about it affecting the lining of the brain & full moon caused slight swelling of the lining.... The days that were the most "fun" were when the full moon coincided with a major front moving through the area! :jester:  On those days, their ADD was much worse.

My daughter was born on a full moon night and they told me when I came in, PLEASE don't have this baby tonight, we are full to the gills because of the moon! Oh well, I waited until 3:36am but's that's all I could do.....lol. Just yesterday I was speaking with an ICU nurse in a cardiac unit and she said three people died in one hour ...well you know it was a full moon........I found it an interesting comment at the time but this thread is just so deja vu!

I met my dh during the full moon.....I knew something weird was going to happen that night!
