For those of you who have breastfed at Disney...

Florida law allows a woman to breastfeed in any public or private location. I nursed by 14 month old while in Disney 2 years ago. It was a non-event. I typically never NIP because I personally did not find it very easy with two highly distracted babies, but in Disney it was so easy to find a quiet area. I remember nursing in a little area kind of near Space Mountain. There were benches and it was semi-private.

You will likely be surprised by how many nursing mothers you see. Good luck to you.

We went in August and the baby was 6 months old. I nursed all over the place and never felt uncomfortable...However I do use a nursing cover even now. It is a like a poncho and I got it at walmart for like 15.00 (i thi nk). Anyways my cousin has a hooter hider but she said that my poncho type seemed easier to use and a bit lighter. Which is nice because it was August and it was hot! Have a great trip! oh and like PP said there some lovely benches tucked away especially near test track

You can nurse in any location in Disney, public or private. It's a law.
It's really easy too. I BFd DS in so many places. If you're shy you can always find a little quiet bench or out of the way spot. Personally, my easiest spot was in Universe of Energy. 45 minutes long, air conditioning, and a great place to nap too.

I nursed my 3 month old all over the World. Never once went to a baby centre except for a diaper change when it was close by.

I do remember nursing him outside the Tiki Room while DH took our older one on the Jungle Cruise. I did a few looks. Some other mommies smiled when they noticed us.

I never felt uncomfortable about it. I even nursed in Chef Mickey's but we were in a corner and I faced the wall.

I've breastfed at WDW many times. It is honestly the least embarrasing place to nurse . Always a place to sit, lots of families with young kids, understanding cast members, and other breastfeeding moms.

our first trip with kids, we went with an almost 3 year old, almost 2 year old, and the baby was 6 weeks.
I nursed her everywhere, in all rides (haunted mansion was great, small world, even pirates after the inital drop).
Yes, the baby care centers are nice, but on this trip we never even visited one. We just had no need to. I wore the baby from morning to night, and my(almost) two year old sat in the single stroller we had. My (almost) 3 year old, ran....everywhere.
HOnestly it was one of my favorite trips, and traveling with such an itty bitty baby is a breeze.

Even without state laws, you're allowed to nurse in public in every state. The state laws are there because some people are clueless that it's okay.

I went with a 2 month old nursling and then a 9 month old nursling. I'll be there in a couple weeks with an 11 month nursling. It's no big deal for me to nurse in public. I sometimes show a tiny bit of my belly but it would be hard to see my breasts.

The baby care centers are helpful if it's hot since they're airconditioned. They're also helpful if your baby is in a distractable phase. I only used the baby care centers if I was already near them and had issues with a distractable child.

*I use a Maya Wrap to carry my kids as babies/young toddlers. In 6+ straight years of nursing, I've only flashed once - and that was when I was using the sling as a cover. My unpadded Maya is awesome for carrying baby. (Padded was too hot and didn't adjust as well). But I let my gaurd down a bit too much when I used it as a nursing cover. I thought I was covered and didn't notice since I was helping my other child with something. So, if you do decide to use it as a cover, pay attention if you don't care to show more than you want. I pay better attention not using a cover.

Disney has got to be the most nursing-friendly place I've ever taken a breastfed baby. DD is 16mo and still nursing, and we never had a problem finding an out of the way bench or another comfy place to nurse. She nursed and fell asleep on Haunted Mansion, during Tough to be a Bug, all over the place! I normally don't nurse in public, but she was happy to sleep in the stroller if she could have her pre-nap nursing so at Disney I got over my reluctance to NIP rather than waste time on afternoon breaks. No one batted an eye over it and the only comment I got was from an older woman who thought it was just great that nursing moms & babies don't have to hide away like they did when her children were young.

My DS was 18 months and nursing and we utilized the baby stations and almost every dark ride that he could go on. There are lots of places that are semi-private benches albeit when we went it was hot in more under the blanket for him and he fussed a bit. So, I did make the circle back to the baby stations. I must say they are very nice, clean and all but Hollywood Studios are spacious. Each of them have a room or a few rooms for nursing moms and all have glider rocker or rockers in them.

This is reassuring for me as I did not nurse my first 2 DS and this one is doing great at 7weeks, we will be there soon and I was worried about tryign to find some spots to bf. I am not to worried about being discreet as I am comfy! I have a nursing cover that is light organic material, and has boning in the top so I can see DS completly and I am the only one. I will check around to see who has a sling, I have a cuddly wrap (moby wrap is similar) and not very good at using it so far for BF. But I have a few weeks left so who knows!

I also agree it is so much easier having a baby at WDW then toddlers or even older kids... no can I have that, or I'm tired can we go to the hotel...blah blah blah!!LOL

I've gone the last 2 years and have breastfeed my 1 year old the first year and the 2nd year my 2 yo and 3 month old. I never had any problems! I was usually wearing them though since we were on the move and that was more "discreet".

Thanks for all the responses! I have never tried a sling before. That is intriguing and something I may have to look into! DS is a good nurser except for when my milk lets down-he consistently removes his latch and there is a full stream of milk going everywhere! What a mess! Hopefully he'll have this mastered (I'm not totally convinced he's not doing it just because ) before we travel. I'm so glad there are so many breastfeeding DIS moms out there!

I would say nurse wherever you like and don't worry about it. I nursed DD for over 2 years and I never used a coverup and never had a problem. I was discreet and in my experience no one seemed to care. I'm sure everyone will be having too much fun at WDW to worry about nursing moms, I can't imagine a CM saying anything negative to a nursing mother

oh heck no!!! Only once have I been asked if I wanted to go somewhere else and I just smiled and said, "no, I'm fine here"

I nurse anywhere and everywhere! If my baby is hungry, I feed him/her. The only exception is my now 2 yo who CAN be told no or to wait until later, but my baby, no way!

didn't read the other replies, but I nursed DS when he was 11 months, 18 months, and 21 months at Disneyworld (okay, at disneyland too!). It wasn't a problem. We'll be going next year when DD is 21 months, and I'll be nursing her then too. At Disneyland people were nursing everywhere. Especially nursing toddlers, I loved it! At Disneyworld I didn't see people nursing very often (and I looked! I love nursing mama's!) but still, there was no issue. I just nurse them anywhere...I do have a mei-tai (a kozy) that I nurse in all the time, just because it's easier and I wear the baby all the time so she's already there, and she'll be sleeping there! No issues with nursing without a sling or without "covering up" either. I know Flordia law is clear about breastfeeding rights. Hope this relaxes you a little! It won't be an issue at all. Just keep doing what you're doing!

Florida is lucky enough to have one of the best breastfeeding laws of all the states. You are allowed to nurse "in any location, public or private, where the mother is otherwise authorized to be, irrespective of whether or not the nipple of the mother's breast is covered during or incidental to the breast feeding". So go ahead and feed your baby whenever, where ever, and how ever!

I've nursed all over, and agree that having a wrap makes it easiest. I love my Gypsy Mama wrap. We actually don't even own strollers - and I think in a busy place like Disney strollers would be a real hassle.

I never had any issues with nursing ds is Disney last year. I did have a CM come up to me just to let me know where the Baby Station was if I wanted a more confortable spot. I told him I was fine and he went on his way.

ETA: I was covered b/c ds was tired which means possible "pop offs". lol

Thank you for posting this. As of now my DD#2 refuses bottles or sippy's. I'm working on it but since our ped doesn't start milk until 12 months I will probably still be nursing DD on our trip in May (she will be turning 1 on the trip). Even though DD#2 is 7 months and I nursed DD#1 until 13 months and only stopped b.c of meds I had to take you would think I would be used to NIP but I never have been comfortable with it - and neither DD would/will wear a cover. I'm starting to be more comfortable with it - but it is great to hear that there are some quiet benches since I doubt my DD#1 who will be almost 3 will want to wait while I go to the baby care centers.
