do you add days in a moderate Disney resort for the weekend? If so, which one? The points are so high for the weekend, I'm considering extending our trip by a cash reservation directly from Disney in a less expensive room. Which resort is your favorite to go to when you're paying cash?

we generally do 2 nights on cash with an AP rate. which hotel depends on how much we feel like spending. next month we are doing 2 nights at pop, then sun-fri at the VWL.

in the past we've stayed a few nights at the poly, and contemporary tower as well (i LOVED the tower).

if i were choosing a moderate i'd do coronado springs. we stayed there on a short kidless trip two years ago (pre-DVC) and i really enjoyed it.

POR, but check my sig ;) . We love staying at different resorts!

We do this often, but I usually choose Animal Kingdom Lodge because it's a family favorite. It's also a great way to try out other resorts at all levels. Once we stayed at AKL for the weekend, then in our DVC villa, then at GF for the last weekend.

we try to stay at a moderate with AP rate for fri/sat nt. now with the new BRP I don't know how we will work it.

so for CSR is our favorite :goodvibes

we usually stay at AKL or POR for the weekend , depends on the $$$ situation.. If it is only 1 night, we do POP or AllStars...

We're going Mon. through Thurs on 2 BD OKW. Then Fri. and Sat. at POR...my kids love the slide there! Last leg will be Sun through Frid back at OKW, 2 BD again. This is the first time we are doing this so I'll let you know how it goes. For POR it cost a little over 300.00 for 2 nights. We stayed at the All Stars once. DH said never again after staying at a DVC resort.

Good luck!

Deb

:Pinkbounc  WE will also pay two night with the AP discount.

I used to - when I had fewer points, or was planning multiple Disney cruises in a year. One thing I'd always do is book the non-dvc resort for the beginning rather than the end of the trip. That way I wasn't moving "down" in terms of resort quality.

I've stayed in them all - All Stars, Pop Century, moderates, some deluxes. I like PO French Quarter a lot, but have also enjoyed Riverside, Coronado & when I want to save money...any of the values. Pop has the best location & nicer rooms, but the transportation for so many guests can be a pain. Animal Kingdom Lodge is so unique, it's worth a weekend - but definitely with a savannah view.

For our next stay we're spending the first weekend on an AP rate at CSR and the second weekend we're just paying cash for OKW for the two weekend nights (also on an AP rate). We would never do this but Christmas is on a Sunday and I didn't want to change resorts on Christmas Day.

We typically use our weekends to go to Universal and stay onsite. Staying onsite gets you the front of the line priveleges so weekend crowds don't really affect your visit. If you do Universal, I suggest the weekends. :rotfl2:
