My dh doesn't like people in general :rolleyes1 and prefers to go to Disney during less crowded times. He is indulging me this year and we are going Dec 4-12 (yes, I know about Pop Warner). I am just wondering if any of you lovely people know how the crowds compare to those for the week that spans April to May - when we have gone the last two years.

I just want to be able to prepare him if the crowds will be higher.....

Also, we arrive on the 4th, which is the parade taping day. Would you avoid the MK on that day? We have always gone to MK on our arrival day in the past.

Yes, avoid the MK on parade day if he hates crowds. There will be lots of people lining Main Street and the hub (though the rest of the park won't be bad).

That time of year used to have low crowds but they've gotten bigger in recent years. Not nearly as big as summer or closer to Christmas, but moderate. Probably on par with April/May (not including the super busy Easter weeks).

We go this time of year pretty often. I find the weekdays are very nice. The MK gets really busy over the weekends. MVMCP is a nice way to see the MK without huge crowds.

we are going Dec 4-11th, so arriving on the same day as you. We will AVOID MK that day. We don't want any part in the taping and while i have heard during the day, the park itself may not be that bad (as many aer watching the taping), i fear at night it will be crowded, which is when we would go if at all. Plus they are open late on saturdays typically to make up for MVMCP hours, so it is probably crowded that evening. So we will be doing Epcot that day/night instead.

on crowds, Pop has no effect on park crowds, they really only effect the resorts they are staying at (and we had a bad experience at POR the year we stayed there with them). but in the parks, i only saw them TWICE in 10 days. so no effect on crowds.

Early Dec is a popular time for DVC, so it isn't totally dead, but we find the crowds manageable. DH and I also do NOT deal in crowds either. I don't mind waiting in line, but if it is over 20 minutes, forget it. We use FP and get there early to try and avoid lines longer than 20 minutes (anytime of year). But we hate when the park and the walkways themselves are just overrun with people. We love the parades and fireworks, but just hate having to deal with the crowds in close proximity for them.

anyhow- i would say early May (in my one experience years ago) and early December are pretty comparable.

we enjoy the somewhat low crowds, holiday decor and weather that time of year! have a great time- where are you staying?

i think i accidently brushed into him my last trip:laughing:

Other people don't realize he hates people, he reserves his comments and grouchyness for me :headache:.

Thanks, that is what I was hoping for. We could handle the crowds when we have gone and I really want to see the holiday decorations. We almost always are at the parks for rope drop and use FP frequently so those aren't new.

We are planning on staying at Pop, but we haven't made any reservations yet. I did finalize our flights and got them paid for (gotta love FF miles, 2 of our tickets were FREE + a $20 credit that can be used for luggage fees). I am patiently (or not so) hoping for a pin code :worship:. Still lots of things to figure out, older dd is now an adult so we need to rethink the dining plan.
