Okay, I tried to follow the other thread concerning using your add-on points. Let me see if I have this correct: 1) Resale or DVD, no difference. 2) Things will be much simpler if the add-on is in the same use year, but not impossible if different. 3) If different use years, I would be considered 2 different members, and may have to transfer points.- does this one hold up regardless if DVD or resale purchase?- also , does this mean two membership cards & #'s ect...? One more thing. I here everyone here say that they cut some slack on transfering points. What is the formal rule on this, and exactly when in addition to the above would I need to use it?

As this thread progresses, I will have more questions pop-up.
Please correct the above statements, and feel free to enlighten me further!

I won't even begin to answer your question regarding an add-on and different use years. Check with Dean or Doc about that.

My understanding of a transfer is ONCE per year, either in or out of your account, to another member who needs to borrow points to complete their ressie (or your own), regardless of the number of points involved. So, in the extreme, if I transferred one point to any other DVCer, that's my transfer for the year. Borrowed points cannot be transferred.

MS is EXTREMELY flexible when tranfering between your own contracts. From what I hear, there is no restriction at all.

You will have two member numbers, I would assume that would mean two membership cards also.

1. agree, 2. agree, 3. partly agree. Separate contract are different members regardless of use years. Definitely different numbers and new cards if different use years but it's been reported that the resale contracts the same use year were given the same number with the appropriate qualifier.

As for transfers, the once per year per contract is not truly accurate. Each issue is handled on a case by case basis and there is more flexibility with multiple contracts of a single owner. There is no hard and fast rule. Bottom line is that if you need to tranfser points to complete a reservation or schedule something like a cruise that must ALL COME FROM ONE CONTRACT, DVC will make it happen regardless of one per year, banked, borrowed, etc. They will not put you in the situation of having to borrow points when you have current points in another contract that would work otherwise and the transfer rules are all that's standing in your way.
