Do you ever go for shorter DVC stays if the airfare is reasonable or low enough? If so..what do you consider low enough for say a 3 or 4 night trip? We can get 59 right now for late Jan. I was able to book a studio for OKW too. Our shortest stays have been 6 nights but I think we are going to try two 4 or 5 night trips this year because we want to go to HHI for at least 5 nights and I really really really want to go to MNSSHP for the first time ever. I know some people say they can't justify going for that short a trip because of airfare so I was curious about those of us that fly out of MD airports. It is sooooooooooo hard for me NOT to go in Jan. now that we have been 4 times. The airfare is soooooo cheap. I have gotten as low as 49 and 39 before. Of course gone are those days.

I saw that airfare and was so ready to book and I would, but we can't go for other reasons. We have booked a 4-day trip before with a fare like that and it is definitely worth it, IMO

I hope you go!

I would love to take short trips, but we always use up our points taking family members and booking more than 1 room. I am sure that if we had more points we would go more than once a year. The down side for us is the 2hr drive from the beach to the airport.

I just got my DVC this past oct and flights were 59 a person for my trip in Feb. I could not pass it up so got my reservation at the same time I was booking flights. One reason we got a DVC b/c of the quick 2 hour flight from BWI.

Yep, we have done it many times and there are four of us! Actually, we're staying at BWV for four nights the end of January but we're adding a day at the MCO Hyatt on both ends of our stay. Go for it...you won't regret it!

You must have the same two days off as us. :thumbsup2

I'm not a DVC'er (just like looking at these boards and dreaming about being a member one day), but we're from NJ and found $49 each way fares on Southwest out of BWI.

Needless to say, for that price we booked a 3 day weekend trip just to go to MNSSHP and celebrate my birthday. We're leaving on Saturday, my first trip out of BWI and I'm excited to see how it goes!

I think you should most definitely go in January, $59 each way is way too cheap to pass up. :thumbsup2

I think the cost savings is reduced the more people that fly. We got $54 each way for our flight for this week (at Vero Beach now). Love those rates!

I have flown down for as little as 3 nights. I would do it for that price.
I too remember those cheap fares or $39 and $49. I remember on Sept I got each way non-stop BWI to MCO on Southwest for $29 each way. How do you turn that down???

We live in Maryland and fly JetBlue out of Dulles. Our trips are usually 3-4 days long and yes, I've jumped on the opportunity to book a $59 flight when available. I watch the flight prices from Dulles and take advantage when JetBlue has an unbeatable deal.

Hey Denise. Our trips are shorter than yours in general. We typically go one five day this year and two next year. Mary Beth has been dead set against flying for many years, but in early November we'll be flying down with most of the rest of her family for a grand gathering at WL. So, if things go well we might be trying to take advantage of cheap flights in the future. Of course you're a family of five and we're just two now, but if you can get anything under the $70 range I think it is worth it.

Good Luck :thumbsup2

BTW we always found it cheaper to fly out of BWI vs. Dulles or National, but recently we discovered we're only 1:30 away from Harrisburg (vs 2:00 to BWI). So we're keeping a watch for fares out of there too.

Yes I definitely go for short visits, 3 and 4 nights. Otherwise I'd have to wait for the family trip and that's only once a year, no where near enough for me. I travel without my DH and college kids. I usually go with a friend or cousins. I have paid $99 out of JFK each way and even that is worth it for me. How else would I be able to get there for a 4 day trip!:lmao:

Anyday spent there is worth the trip to me!:thumbsup2

HEY ROB!!!!!!! :goodvibes

Well for this trip I am pretty sure it will be just 3 of us. Our college daughter is probably not going and our high school son wants to skip Jan. So if I can get over feeling guilty about them NOT going....I really want to go in Jan. Our daughter would love to go ...but her schedule will not work. :sad1: Right now SW has 84 going down to MCO and Airtran has 59 both ways but we have a credit to use on SW. SO I am thinking....we will fly down on SW and book Airtran at 59 on the return. I feel like SW will go down and then I can get another credit for next time. :thumbsup2 Have fun in November. Sounds like a great trip is planned for you guys.

we have done 3 nights but that was with the $39.00 fare out of BWI. We use our southwest card for everything to earned tickets. DW has been flying free for a couple of years. And we were able to get $49.00 for our trip this sunday. But we also had 3 tickets to use. :goodvibes

We used to do frequent long-weekends at WDW - GREAT way to "find your smile" in between longer visits.

From BWI - it's a 2-hour nap and you are there! Southwest is the BEST!

Once, years ago, I was sound asleep on my flight to Orlando when the Captain said (he updated the mileage later so I realized what happened)..........

Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls.....we are only 200 MILES FROM DISNEY WORLD!

The flight erupted into screams and cheers. Coming out of a sound sleep ---- I thought something had happened and we were "going down"!!!!!

Good laugh when I found out what had happened - but the little kiddies were tough to settle down after that!

What a way to wakeup!

I really wish SW would bring back those 39 and 49 flights. I remember getting a one way once for 34 with a DING. UNREAL huh?!

Do you want me to reply to this?! :rotfl:

SW down on Thurs AM to avoid the peanuts and Air Tran home on Tues for $59!!!
