For those in GTA - is Playhouse Disney on Rogers Cable?

I heard a bunch of ads on the radio saying that a Playhouse Disney channel was going to be on cable in the GTA on November 30th. It sounded like it was different from the Family Channel which happens to show a lot of Disney shows already.

Is it available on Rogers cable? If so, what channel is it in the GTA?

Right now, the channel is available to Bell Express Vu subscribers only (it's a multiplex channel on BEV).

Astral Media is working on other agreements with major cable and satellite carriers - and rumoured launches per the various news articles this past week are saying between 3-6-12 months time for the "others".

My daughter was so excited this morning when she found it. She commented that it was just like being at WDW and watching T.V. in the room.

It seemed to have the same showed as on the Family channel....just repeated over and over....Franny's Feet, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Tigger and Pooh, and Handy Mandy....

i would like to get the Disney chanel that does the repeats of House of Mouse. My DD lovved that show and although they enjoy Mickeys clubhouse, they are a little old for it. I would love to see old episodes for them of H ofM. anyone have ideas how i can get ahold of old episodes>

Looks like a couple of DVD's were issued, but nothing much else...

If Disney is no longer showing the episodes, then normally no one else gets a license either

We have star choice sattelite and as of November 30, 2007 we have the disney channel 24hrs. My kids love the disney channel and missed it when we got rid of the direct tv. We used to get the disney tv stuff like Mickey mouse clubhouse and Handy Manny but now we get more of it and the kids are thrilled. I've been waiting for this to come to Canada for sometime and am thankful now.

Much like MomDad&2boys, my neighbours have StarChoice and Playhouse Disney is not to be found. Could you post what channel you are watching? They do have access to the Family Channel, but were told by StarChoice the agreement to obtain feed from PlayHouse Disney Canada is not yet finalized.

As noted in my previous post, it looks like only BEV has access right now... otherwise I know my DH would like to make a switch to SC!!

Doh! I forgot about this. Today was a snow day and this would have been a good distraction instead of having them just destroy the house.

For those of you who have Cogeco cable when I asked if they were getting it , the more people that ask for it the better the chances are. I know I would love if DS could watch Playhouse Disney far more than never really knowing what's going to be on treehouse .

This actually is the disney channel but they use the family channel (Canadian commercials) just like they do for the super bowl. I called Starchoice and asked and they said alot of people are getting confused but it is the disney channel. Before they showed some disney shows but now are showing all.

It really doesn't matter what the folks at StarChoice think it is, but according to www.family.ca and www.astralmedia.com it is not the Disney Channel. It is the Family Channel, owned and operated by Astral Media -- they use Canadian commercials because it is a publicly owned Canadian media company. They may show some Disney shows, but they also show some Nickelodeon shows such as Ned's Declassified, Zoey 101 and some Canadian produced shows such as Life with Derek. You can bet the Disney Channel is not broadcasting Nickelodeon shows.

One of their advertising mottos is "Family Channel with the magic of Disney." There is a strong Disney content, but it is not purely Disney. Here is the info from the Astral Media website: With its unique blend of high-quality series, movies and specials—a good proportion of which hail from the magical world of Disney—there’s never a dull moment on Family.

Coincidentally, Astral Media owns the rights to Playhouse Disney in Canada -- however this channel is not currently available on StarChoice, according to the StarChoice website. Family Channel East is located at 540 through StarChoice, 541 is the western feed.

Alright - looks like MTS picked up Playhouse Disney Canada... but Rogers, nope! There is actually a Facebook page that popped up, with people begging Rogers to please pick up the channel.
