I've read in some posts a good stopping point for the night is Columbia South Carolina or area.

Where have you stayed that was good? How about eating around?

Looking for any information.

I would simply look for a Hampton Inn for a hotel. Their reputation is high. Breakfast included (and quite good). Rooms clean and fair size, usually a pool and 100% satisfaction guarantee. Price is also right.

As far as eating...... Get a CAA guide, however don't expect much as you'll be tired and food then is not a priority.

I'd drive until I was tired and need to stop. There are a ton of Hotels, I'd probably not worry about a reservation, but would look for Hampton Inn or any hotel that looks as if it was recently built (less likely to deteriorate or be dirty).
