A recent post about long stays received answers from owners who are staying up to a month. We are thinking of snow-birding at OKW. My question...Do you wait until the 11 month window opens on your "departure date" to book a long stay or do you book it for shorter periods and than add on another week, etc ??
It would seem that if you waited to book the entire stay you might not be able to book the ressie. What has been your experience?
We are looking a adding points to get us up to 19 or more days in a 2 BR in Jan-Feb.

I believe it depends on time of year. Over Thanksgiving 2003 we booked three rooms, two for seven days and one for thirteen days. We booked one day at a time for the most part. We also go in January/February for a longer stay (two to three weeks) and still book it smaller increments. Each time we tell the CM that we are booking this way so that we don’t get conformation letters for each call. We are planning January 2005 now. It is a pain to call each day but if it is a busy season it may be worth calling. The later part of January (because of the lower points) and February because of Presidents day and schools being out in the East causes that time to be somewhat difficult the longer you wait. The last variable is the DVC you stay at, BWV and BCV may be harder to get reservations because of the location. Good luck.
