We're infrequent DL visitors. We need a few tips/reminders for our upcoming trip, please.

1. We will be checking into the Villas at the Grand Californian early the morning we go to DL. Where is the security check point these days?
2. For 8am opening, what time should we get to the gates to be at front of rope drop?
3. What time should we get in line for the Grand Californian entrance to DCA for 8am opening? In the past, the line suddenly gets long but if we arrive just a little earlier, we'll be one of the first few at that entrance.
4. Can a GC be saved as payment for mobile ordering? Does the app automatically apply our DVC discount on mobile orders the way it does at WDW?

Anything else I should know to make our park days smooth for our family of 7?

Thanks!

1. Security for GCH is in the entryway into Downtown Disney.
2. We've gotten to the gates at around 7:30 or so and been near the front to head into Tomorrowland or Fantasyland, but I think it might depend on when you are going and if you are trying to get on Rise first thing.
3. I feel like the same logic for DL would apply to the DCA entrance for GCH, but it's been a few years since I stayed there and I have no idea if the protocols have changed. The parks have been letting guests in about 30 minutes prior to opening.
4. No, unfortunately the app will not save a GC. I've read people just saving the number in your phone and then copy and pasting. Not sure about the DVC discount, but you could always check. Just go through with a mobile order until just before payment and any discounts should be reflected there.

Security usually opens at around 7AM or sometimes 7:15AM so to be at the front, you want to be at security before then. A lot of hotels start breakfast at 6:30AM so you want to be ahead of people eating breakfast at their hotels. This is mostly necessary for Rise of the Resistance but you can be later for other attractions.

The Grand Californian entrance will put you behind the people at the front entrance for attractions like Web Slingers. I don't know the best time to be there but it's generally not recommended for rope drop.
