I booked some dates in August for my birthday but I was curious as to what you guys thought would be a better choice. They're both about $300 per night...

Royal Pacific Resort Club Room or Portofino Bay Hotel Deluxe Room?

I've stayed in both (RPR lots of times, PBH only once)... and I love them both. The ambiance of the RPR is a little more to my liking... laid-back, relaxing... but I've stayed there at least 5 times in the past year.

Are the RPR Club Rooms bigger than the Standard Rooms?

Thanks for the help. :)

The club rooms are the same size, the PBH room would be MUCH larger. However you do get breakfast , snacks, beer and wine and desserts at the RPR club. Kinda depends on if you want more room or food?

I have stayed in both. A PBH Deluxe once. RPR Club 4-5 times.

Obviously, we prefer RPR Club. Lindalinda is right; the rooms aren't any bigger than the std rooms, and you'll want to request a nice view as you'd pay the same for a view of the park/pool as you would a view of I4/the roof.

But, we had a view of the quiet pool (villa pool) in our deluxe room at PBH. PBH was sold out the week were were there (during Mardi Gras), and it still felt like a morgue there. Very quiet. No one in the Thirsty Fish as we'd grab a beer before going to the boat dock. The bartender there wasn't very friendly either, despite the bar being practically empty. It wasn't "fun." If you want "quiet and romantic," go for the PBH.

If you want "fun," treat yourself to club at RPR, and enjoy beer o'clock in the club lounge (5-7pm) before heading out for the night. :)

JMHO

Hey man,

Having stayed both several times I would go RPR club hands down. The deluxe rooms at PBH are much larger and nicer but for the same price you can't beat the club amenities. I think the free beer/wine and food from 5-7 is a great perk. Tell them its your Birthday and request a pool/park view. It wouldn't hurt to mention your past stays. Loews First would help too if you are a member. Enjoy!

Expedia has the prices for those rooms you are describing for $280.

-Just thought I'd bring that up

I rather book through Universal using the AAA discount and my Loews card.

I wish I would've booked that way for my upcoming June trip and my previous trips. I would've gone like.. quadruple platinum by now. lol.. UGH!
