For the Fl residence

I am from Lakeland!! While growing up we mainly did the drive over and back and had a few overnight stays on property but now we live in beautiful Sarasota which is still within driving distance but we have yet to go over there without staying on property! Not something I want to start!

We do both. If the trip is planned we will stay on site. If it is not we planned we drive back home since we are only an hour away. Funny, when the trip is not planned and we have to drive home we usually plan an overnighter for the following week or so.

Hi!

When we moved to South Florida from NY two years ago my goal was to visit Disney World as often as possible. Most of the time we stay on proerty but if we plan an impromptu visit then we stay off property (I refuse to pay rack rate when I know I could've had a discount!)

We do both! Lots of day trips with an occasional overnight on site! :sunny:

Wow, quite the little Lakeland population we've got! It is a nice little town, isn't it? :goodvibes I love that's it's right in the middle of the state.

wow= we have a few JAX people on the board!!! I would love to meet you all. We did stay on property for halloween. Went down Saturday night and come home Tuesday. It was great - we stayed at COB- which we hadnt stayed there for years..
Now my twins want to stay at the Yacht club for their birthday present.
We got the kids the seasonal tickets and me and DH the regular AP's.. ( I'll be taking some quicky day trips to disney).

BuckleyBunch,

Welcome to Jacksonville. As being a Jax native and my 2nd home is Disney I feel I cant get enough of the place. We 99.9% of the time stay on property. Only time we dont is when we go to IOA/USO and we usually stay at one of the hotels across from there. We usually make 8-10 trips a year and several spur of the moment trips. Whats so nice is its close enough to home but just far enough to enjoy a lil vacation.

If you look on the boards there are about a 100 or so members here in and around the Jacksonville area. Hope you enjoy the city and better yet enjoy more trips to Disney

And be prepared to answer #9 from down below repeadly

Just ran across this thread and had to chime in too. I moved to Lakeland a little over a year ago from Dallas, Texas. However, born and raised in central Illinois. Love Lakeland and ideal location midway between Tampa and Orlando.

I was a Disney Store Castmember for 8 1/2 years before moving here. I now work at the new Kohls store. Love working there but still feel my heart being pulled up the road to the Mothership. May have to go up after Christmas and see if they'll hire me on for a couple of days a week. I miss working for Disney so much.

Well just wanted to say "Hey from another Lakelander".

Janet

I live about 40 minutes away now (I did live about 10 minutes away) and I actually am staying on property a lot this month. I don't stay on property generally a lot, but I do stop at Disney every couple of weeks on the way to volunteer work, and at other times. If you are in Jacksonville, it seems you are far enough away to get a weekend in here and there (staying onsite or elsewhere). I like that I'm close enough to Disney to visit when I want, and that frees up vacation time to go abroad.

Hi Goofy and AuntPatti-

I live in North Port, too--and I have my own Princess V!

My DH must drive faster than you; we get to WDW in about 2 hours. We moved here in August, have stayed on property in October and October, will again inDecember and January, but will be off property in May at Hilton Grand Vacations I-Drive.

I think you'll be surprised how easy it is to go--and stay at WDW. Enjoy!

We went to the WL last week for 4 days, and I think we will be going a lot for weekend trips now that we have annual passes. Plus, the FL. resident rate was cheaper than the AAA rate.

We only live about 45 minutes to an hour west of Orlando

Hi...we live in Jacksonville..(well, last year we moved to Orange Park)..

We take several trips per year and always stay on-site. Also, buy AP's every year. We thought we would give it break one year and before the year was out we had AP's again. Our favorite time is the Christmas Season, so we can't buy the Seasonal Passes...

Since I have moved here, I have done both. We always stay over night but by the end of the year, I will have done three trips on property (CBR, POP, and ASM) and three off of property (2 Sheraton Safari, 1 Gaylord Palms - all off of Priceline). I prefer staying on property but sometimes it doesn't work out that way, especially on a short notice trip... you just can't get a room on property (or a cheap one anyway!)

Welcome to Florida!

We are 2 1/2 hours away and we usually stay overnight on property 2 or so times a year and have two longer trips in April and Sept on property which is like 5 days. I take a couple 2 nighters with my sister without the girls a few times a year too but we stay off property for those. I go to Orlando alot throughout the year...LoL. I'd live there if my dh didn't have such a good job here.
