For the First Time in Forever...we finally get to go back!! a pre trip report

Oh my goodness, so much cuteness!
I love all your shirt ideas and I love even more that Andrew is so willing to go along with them!
Caden will make the cutest Flynn ever! Charlotte will be in love  she has a real thing for Flynn!

I love everything but how STINKIN' CUTE will Caden be as Flynn rider?!?!!!! That picture will be adorable!

Wahoo!! Our return flight just went down in price too!! Got another 2,000 points back!! Yay!! Only need 1,500 til I can get our last ticket needed!

Thanks! We might even disneybound one day. Lol. We just talked about it last night. Haha. I totally picked a winner here! :)

And I'm glad you guys think that Flynn will be cute. The family response from my siblings was less than enthusiastic. Lol

Great stuff! You are all going to look so cute together! :thumbsup2 And good catch with Andrew - willing to have serious discussions on coordinating/custom Disney shirts! :rotfl: That Halloween costume will be so cute! You should get him a little Rapunzel doll to carry or something (if he doesn't already have one). So glad you're that close to getting all your flights squared away - that's a relief! So excited for your trip! :goodvibes

Ok so I'm pretty sure that the only people still following this PTR are also my friends on fb...so this may be a boring post for you guys.

First up:
Jan discounts were released on Monday for CC holders! Yay!!!! And as I'm a credit card holder, I called to book our trip (my first time booking it myself)....I have to say, I prefer doing it thru a travel agent...I'll probably stick with them from now on :-P

We're going Jan 4-10 and the discounts don't start til the 5th. So since I was stuck paying rack rate for our first night no matter what, we decided to do a split stay and spend our first night at AoA in a Little Mermaid room!!

It was only about $15 more than 1 night at Pop and Andrew and I both really wanted to stay there. So yay!! I'm really so excited about it. My plan that day was to wander over to AoA anyway and explore. So now we won't need to "wander over there", and can just explore our own resort! yay!!

I'm hugely excited because of the Cars section!! Caden is in LOVE with the Cars movie, and McQueen, and Mater, and Doc, and etc etc etc.

AND this means we can swim in the Nemo pool either when we arrive or the next day! Extra Yay!! :cheer2:

So since our tickets will be attached to our package starting on the 5th we'll plan to do "early ticket pick up" which we did on a previous trip so I don't anticipate that being an issue. IF it is a problem for some reason, we will just do DTD for dinner and enjoy our resort.

That also meant I had to cancel our Chef Mickey reservation for our arrival night which I was really excited about. :sad1: However, I was less excited for our Epcot dinner the next night. It was kinda the "we need one more meal" dinner and I was ok with skipping it. So I got on the disney website and miraculously there was a Chef Mickey reservation open for 6:20pm on our second day!!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1: So I snapped that up and we will just do counter service on our first night and start with our table service meals on day 2! No problemo!! :goodvibes

I think it will actually probably work out better that way anyway because it gives us some time to warm Caden up to the characters before throwing him in a room stuck at a table with giant characters coming right up to him. :scared1:

The rest of our trip with be at our good old favorite: POP Century!!

Hopefully with a nice Lake View room like one of these!! :thumbsup2

PS how do I add room requests to my reservation? I've never done that before!

We'll have tickets for arrival day (hopefully) and then 5 days of the trip and our departure day. Our flight out isn't until 7pm so we'll be able to spend a good bit of our departure day at MK. We're just doing Base tickets as of right now...I'm a little nervous that we're going to make it until our "open day" and then want to hop and end up adding that on on our second to last day. So IDK...maybe we'll add it sooner? Currently I kinda like the idea of just staying at one park each day. But we shall see.

Ooh, I've also just this week moved Cadens bedtime later (to fix an early riser issue) but it comes with the added benefit of being 9pm Central time, which makes his bedtime 10pm Florida time...aka, we can make it thru Wishes and back to the hotel without screwing up his bedtime too much! Yay!! Although he is two and his bedtime will probably change between now and Jan...but whatever.

Also related to sleep...he's done several stroller naps recently (each one lasting his normal 2 hrs) and we even went to STLMickeyMom's girls bday party DURING naptime...and he was fine! I'm feeling quite good about being able to stay in the parks most days if we want and just doing a stroller nap as needed.

And then next up we have Halloween!!
We've decided to go with Buzz, Jessie, and Woody for our costumes. I made 'em myself! :-D (well..with the help of goodwill)

Even has a jetpack on the back :thumbsup2

mine: (please ignore the stupid face)

I added yellow cuffs after this pic and I still need to add red puff paint for the swirls on the yellow. I'll wear some tan boots (don't own cowboy boots), and a rolled up bandana as a headband (don't own a cowboy hat either).

And Andrew's Woody Costume

He'll add cowboy boots, a hat, and a big belt buckle.

But I'm pretty excited about the whole thing. Caden loves his Buzz costume. He thinks it's pretty cool :goodvibes

I also got the supplies for Caden's Flynn costume that he'll wear at Disney World for meeting Rapunzel. We'll also pull out his Peter Pan costume that I'm pretty sure will still fit him.

So that's what's going on around here :goodvibes

Yay for all the exciting updates (even if I did read it on Facebook ;) )! We really liked POP and I'm so looking forward to one day staying at AoA. I saw some of the card stuff when our bus dropped people there--it looks so cool!

I think the later bedtime and time zone change and everything else are all adding up to the making of some awesome Disney memories!

And seriously, which goodwill do you go to? You always find the most PERFECT stuff!

I'm so excited for this trip I feel like I'm gonna explode. I'm also nervous I'm going to have a horrific letdown when its all over. Like might just lay in bed and cry for 3 days haha

And we go to ALLLLL the goodwills (like we hit a goodwill just about once a week...some weeks we go to a bunch of them...it's what we do when we're bored or want to get out of the house in the evening).
St. charles has 2, there's one on olive by my house, one on manchester, and for this stuff we hit the jackpot at the crestwood goodwill (but we don't go there very often...just did on a whim this week and BAM! all the stuff we needed!) Oh and Chesterfield and balwin have good ones too! Always good stuff at the goodwills in the nicer areas of town.

The Little Mermaid rooms are sooo cute! You're going to love them!! I don't know if that ever made it into one of my TRs, but it was a huge hit with Blakers. Actually, I don't really remember when we did that.. Anyway, the details are super cute and that resort is adorable. Awesome that you've added it! :thumbsup2

How lucky on the bedtime switch and time zone change. That has to make things easier when you go.

Your costumes are super cute! I can't believe it's nearly Halloween again. Where's the time going? But, almost trip time, right? :cool1: (My boys are going as Harry Potter & Ron Weasley this year.) Excited to see how the Flynn costume looks, too!

Yay!!!! :cool1:
Booking a trip is the most exciting thing ever! Almost as exciting as actually going!:lmao:

AoA looks so awesome! I am so happy you can stay there and show Caden the cars stuff!

All your costume stuff is so super cute! I never have much luck at the goodwill, but I typically only go to the so co one and I think it's a tad over priced...I am going to have to try some of your suggested goodwills! At any rate you all will look so cute as the toy story crew and I am beyond excited to see Caden as Flynn!

I am sure you will be able flex his bedtime/nap time schedule. It's best to keep it close, but they are having enough fun you can stretch it a bit!

Yay for booking your room(s)! Finally makes it feel real, huh? :cool1: That’s great that you get to stay at AoA for a night! If you can’t get a discount, might as well do something special. Caden will LOVE the Cars area!! :car: I took the world’s quickest tour around there before catching the Magical Express last trip and it was so cool!! Wish I had more time to wander around it. They did such a good job of theming! :thumbsup2 And, yes, swim at the Nemo Pool – that splash pad area looked so fun! Glad your dining changes worked out. AoA’s food court is supposed to be pretty good, if you end up eating there.

Yay for Pop Century! I hope you have better luck than I do in getting a lakeview room! :rotfl: Regarding room requests, there is not much that you can select via the online check-in, so I was told to call and they added my requests to the reservation. Of course, you may remember how well that worked (pretty much got the exact opposite of my requests :confused3).

I’ve never not park-hopped, so I probably can’t answer that. :lmao:

I’m glad that Caden’s sleep is looking good for Disney! Stroller naps are the best, since they give you a lot of options. And that is great that he seems to be adaptable to schedule changes too. :goodvibes

Great job on the costumes! Izzy would LOVE Caden’s Buzz costume – she has been obsessed with Buzz lately. Aw, that would be so cute if she could meet tiny-Caden-Buzz. :lovestruc

Regarding the “let down” after returning – make sure to take tons of photos and videos so that you and Caden (and Andrew) can relive the magic together. Izzy LOVES watching the videos from our August trip over and over and it’s almost more fun to watch her watching them than the actual moments were, since it just makes her light up. And, of course, write a TR to relive every moment for an extended time. ::yes::

Love that you get to stay a night in the LM rooms! They're soooooo cute! AoA really is an awesome resort for the kiddos and I know that Caden will love the Cars section!

Plans sound wonderful!! And how awesome is it that you were able to snag a Chef Mickey's the next night! Meant to be!

I got an e-mail from Southwest yesterday or today about a sale during your dates... maybe check back and see if that helps out even more on saving some points!

Sooooooo excited for your trip! Caden is going to have the time of his life!

We've been messing with his sleep a lot lately (we were out til almost 11 on Halloween and he did fine! Needed a long nap the next day but he was ok. And he's been doing stroller naps lately too...out of necessity with our work schedules lately. But he's been doing solid 2 hr stroller naps. yay!

Yeah, I was looking at the food court and I think we may grab dinner there when we arrive and before we head to the park that evening. It looks yummy and I think we'd enjoy it more than Cosmic Rays/Pecos Bills

Honestly, the more I think about it, the more i'm realizing that I don't even care haha. I may not even put in a room request. I don't know. :-P

Great job on the costumes! Izzy would LOVE Caden’s Buzz costume – she has been obsessed with Buzz lately. Aw, that would be so cute if she could meet tiny-Caden-Buzz. :lovestruc
Thanks! I hope one day we end up at Disney at the same time and can meet and let the kids meet! Wanna plan one of your ultra cheap, super fast trips in Jan? lol

Yes, the videos are a good idea. I'm gonna need to remove all the music from my iphone so I have enough room lol

And yes a TR is a must (i'm better at those than I am at PTRs :P) and I'll also be working on a photobook. So hopefully I can keep the blues to a minimum.

Thanks! I ended up getting our last ticket with points (got a refund from a sale, can't remember if it was this one you told me about or a different one) and we're all booked now!! We spent $130 total on 3 flights ($100 for the credit card fee and about $30 in 9/11 security fees). Best flight deal I've ever gotten ;)

Yes Chef Mickey's was TOTALLY meant to be! I'm so happy that worked!

So I'm terrible at this PTR thing...it's been a month. :-P

Ok so I have a lot of update to give you guys!!

Flights:
I finished booking Andrew's flight home and we all have flights now! yay!! Southwest had a sale, got a little refunded from our other tickets, and I was able to book his last flight with points. We're good to go now!! Yay!!

FP+: The 6th was supposed to be my FP day...but since we're checking in for our room only reservation a day earlier, I decided to see if I could book on the 5th instead and sure enough I COULD!!! Yay!!! So I jumped on around 11:30 on the 5th and got everything we wanted! I'm not 100% sure I picked good times but I just went with it. Here's what we got!

MON - EPCOT
Soarin: 9:40 (this is a late start day for us cause I'm planning to stay late at MK the night before. I'm aiming to arrive around 10am)
Nemo: 10:45
Disney Pals M&G: 11:50 (figured we should get pics with the classic outfits, also will give us a good opportunity to see how the characters will go before taking him to dinner with them! :scared1:)

TUES - HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS
TSMM: 9:30 (planning to arrive at RD, ride TSM, meet buzz and woody, then ride again with FP before heading off to see the rest of the park)
H&V reservation for 10:30
Start Tours 11:10 (I'm at this moment re-thinking this...maybe we would rather do this later so he can stroller nap while we rider swap...Or maybe we'll just get our rider swap ticket and then save it for during his nap...Anyone have suggestions?)
Frozen Sing Along 12:10 (do we need a FP for this? )

I feel solid on our TSM plan and then I feel very lost on what else to FP in this park. Open to suggestions!

WED - MAGIC KINGDOM (WOOT!!)
Peter Pan 10:20
Meet Rapunzel 11:20 (just switched to this from Anna and Elsa...I originally had Rapunzel on our last day and I just don't want to wait that long...so I was able to grab A&E on our last day just now...like no problem at all there were lots of openings! :confused3 and swapped our A&E for this day to Rapunzel. Woot!)
Enchanted Tales with Belle 12:20 (hopefully doing BOG fp either before or after this! This is for mommy! BatB is my FAVORITE!!)

The Rapunzel swap was important to me because she's caden's favorite and he's excited to meet her AND I just finished his Flynn Rider costume!!

I'm so very excited for this M&G!!! Hoping for lots of good pics!! Thankful for that memory maker that we got!!

THURS ANIMAL KINGDOM
This day we're really planning on only being at AK til lunch time...then we want to hit WPE for lunch...this may not work out cause this is also a day we are planning on "sleeping in" So IDK we may just play it by ear.
Safari 9:30 (I figure this allows us to arrive around 10/10:15 and still get on...that'll feel like sleeping in to us LOL #lifewithatoddler)
Festival of the Lion King 10:30
Finding Nemo Musical 11:30

FotLK and Nemo are really our only Must Dos at this park. I have a feeling we will end up finding a lot more to do and stay past lunch...so we'll see. We have dinner reservations at Boma at 7:20...I moved them later so we could do a late lunch if we wanted. So hopefully we can do what we want at AK and then still hit DTD. We do have our "open day" the next day so we could always move our DTD plans to that day instead.

FRIDAY open day
I got FP for TSM and hollywood studios...This is the day that makes me want to get a park hopper.. I have no idea where we will end up this day. I just figured a TSM FP was going to be the hardest one to get day of so I grabbed it just in case. We'll see. (We also have a FP+ for Lights Motors Actions cause of Lightning McQueen and Voyage of the Little Mermaid. Those are both throw away ones...we'd like to see them but are planning to see them on Tuesday when we're there.

SATURDAY MAGIC KINGDOM and departure day :sad1:
We have park time from rope drop til about 3pm...our flight is at 7, means tragical express will pick up about 4 so we'll need to make our way out of the park around 3p.
7DMT 10:40 (Caden is tall enough for this! Woot!!...do I wanna grab this earlier in the week? pretty sure it's still available)
Anna and Elsa 11:40
Peter Pan's Flight 12:40

And then I wanted to show you guys Caden's Halloween costume shoot and our family halloween costumes! Caden will be wearing this for our first HS day so he can meet Buzz in costume. Andrew wants to wear his Woody shirt too...so I guess I'm wearing mine too  It's not that comfortable or attractive :-P And I feel like it might be too costume-y.

Do you have plans for another MK day? I noticed the late MK night causing later EPCOT day, but I got confused. Anyway, I think the mine train once is fine. Your other FP+ for MK are pretty important, so I wouldn't want to risk not getting them same day. I don't know about meeting Rapunzel, but the others seem to be gone the night before much of the time. SDMT is a cute ride, but really short. You could always split up and let Caden take two turns on it, too. He doesn't need FP+, right?

Isn't DHS difficult? I never know what to plan as a third there either. No clue on the Frozen show. My guys have no interest so I've never bothered to look into waits. We usually end up with Muppets or Voyage of the Little Mermaid. Then we don't use either one because there's no need for it! :rotfl: I like the idea of moving your Star Tours to naptime, but there is a lot in the area to check out with him. You could even watch a jedi training show, if the times line up. I wouldn't know what to do here!

Your Jessie outfit really does look like a costume, but so what! You all look adorable and it will make for cute pics. I say go for it. :thumbsup2

We only have 1 full MK day (Wednesday in the middle of our trip) but we have an evening there on our arrival day (getting to the park around 5/6p and it's open til 12...we may be bad parents that night and let him fall asleep in the stroller while we play...or convince him to take a "nap" around 7/8 and then have fun with us later lol). And then we have 9-3p there on our departure day. We do have Friday as a "free day" so we could always add more MK if we felt like we needed it.
And honestly, I'm a little worried Caden will be completely traumatized by the roller coaster so it may not even be an issue of needing a second ride lol

SOOO difficult! Ugh! I just spend a LONG time trying to make a touring plan for HS. I think i have one worked out (gonna post in a second)...it's not perfect but I think it will work. We may end up having to cut a few things but it gives us a starting place.

Your Jessie outfit really does look like a costume, but so what! You all look adorable and it will make for cute pics. I say go for it. :thumbsup2
:thumbsup2 we'll see how I'm feeling lol

I just loved how the buzz light year costume turned out, super cute! Your whole family is so cute!

Your plans look good to me. That Rapunzel meet is super important! I can not wait to see the pics!

Wanna critique my HS plan? I moved some FPs around and I like it better now. It's packed and I know if it was just Andrew and I it would be no problem...I just don't know what to expect with a toddler along. He's pretty chill and goes with the flow so it may be totally fine, OR we may have to throw it all out and just do what works...so I'm preparing myself to be flexible...BUT this is plan A lol

See any glaring issues?

EDIT TO ADD: I just threw in the times so I could guestimate at how long things would take us. I won't be watching my watch and freaking out if we're running "late" I'll actually probably delete the times for when we're there. I'll just leave in the FP+, meal, and aprox nap times.

Thanks :)
And yes! Very important!! haha

The only thing I'd be concerned about is trying to ride TSMM standby first thing. With FP+, I've read about waits building right away, though I've never paid attention to it. If you're doing it twice more, I'd take a more relaxed morning and just go meet Buzz & Woody first. This way you won't end up stuck in a longer line and feel rushed. (You could even change quickly if you don't want to walk around as Jessie all day! ;) ) Just my thoughts. Early December is supposed to be a slower time, so I could be nuts. :confused3 It all looks pretty good though!
